It's hard to find a fault with a kid and his family that made this choice. Like he mentioned, it was mainly about academics and being sure he was ready for college. Good for him.
Rome most recently was head coach of the UNC club football program. Prior to that, he was the head coach of Far Eastern Federal University in Russia, where he started the football program.
You don't see this line in a coach's bio very often:

I love what Coach Rome is doing. I just hope these kids know that VUL isn’t accredited and the VUL administration are working towards accreditation. That’s no shot or diss. Playing football is great and all, but education means everything..Especially to us Black men (I say that because VUL is an HBCU & most of their players are black).
Do you guys remember a few years ago when a gentleman from France was posting on here? He said he played American club football in France. If I remember correctly, he was asking for suggestions for good high school games on a couple of Friday nights that he was going to be in the States.
Now Russia? I guess there is more American football played overseas than we realize.
I don't know if you heard but these are the folks trying to get Gridiron football into the Olympics as a demonstration sportI really had no idea. Thanks.
the Jr teams are high schoolersThat possibility opens a huge box of good and bad possibilities.
Football played as we know it would be extremely expensive to conduct on the world stage, but also highly lucrative. It would be hard to imagine that it could be competitive if the US staffed its team with pros or even college talent.
Isn’t accredited by whom? They are accredited by ACSI (The Association of Christian Schools International) and by AdvancedEd (SACS).i hope these kids know that LCA isnt accredited.
Thanks for sharing EPJr. You are 100% correct. GW Danville has had 4 young men play for TeamUSA (2 current players) and Tim Glass (Current NC State Safety) and David Wilson (Virginia Tech and NY Giants). It’s nothing to see the US beat teams 70-0. It’s actually really fun to watch.the Jr teams are high schoolers
The Senior teams is amateurs and low level college grads that are not pro prospects
Besides the US and Canada the next two up and coming countries are Mexico and Japan.
Here is a game between the two of them
I was confused too Vols. He’s talking about LCA (Life Christian Academy) near Richmond. Not Liberty Christian Academy.Isn’t accredited by whom? They are accredited by ACSI (The Association of Christian Schools International) and by AdvancedEd (SACS).
yesI was confused too Vols. He’s talking about LCA (Life Christian Academy) near Richmond. Not Liberty Christian Academy.
I completely misread the entire article! My subconscious substituted Liberty Christian for Life Christian LOL. Classic symptom of football withdrawals.I was confused too Vols. He’s talking about LCA (Life Christian Academy) near Richmond. Not Liberty Christian Academy.

I said the same thing! I was thinking that this kid would be the best CB in Region DIt's funny. When the article first came out, it did sat Liberty Christian Academy, then they changed it to Life Christian Academy. It had me confused at first.
Okay so I guess I'm not crazy after all. It's funny. When the article first came out, it did sat Liberty Christian Academy, then they changed it to Life Christian Academy. It had me confused at first.
