St Stephens-St Agnes opened their season with an early Friday afternoon start and they took advantage of the good weather to roll to a 49-27 win over Paul VI. The Saints used a physical running attack and they only attempted four passes. Senior running back Chancellar Legrand had 216 rushing yards and he scored the games first touchdown as St Stephens-St Agnes led by double-digits from the 1st quarter on.
Chancellor had 57 yards as the Saints took the opening drive and drove 80 yards in nine plays to take a 7-0 lead with 8:30 to go. Cornerback Darnell Clement quickly made it 14-0 when he picked off a pass and returned the interception 40 yards for a touchdown. The Saints extended the lead to 21-0 in the second quarter after drive 64 yards in nine plays with Brandon Bartley finishing the drive with a 4-yard touchdown run.
James Duren sparked Paul VI to their 1st score of the year with 69-yard kickoff return that gave the Panthers the ball at the St Stephens-St Agnes 35-yard line. A facemask move the ball inside the redzone and quarterback Jimmy Check connected with Gus Lee for a 15-yard touchdown.
C.J Lyons returned the ensuing kickoff 74-yards to the Panthers 23 yard line but a Chancellor fumble inside the 5-yard line ended the scoring threat. The next time Duren touched a ball on a kickoff was in the 3rd quarter and his bobble actually caused St Stephens-St Agnes to over pursue the coverage Duren found an opening and returned the kick 91-yards for a touchdown.

Lyons scrambled 15 yards for the touchdown to give the Saints a 28-7 lead. The Saints scored twice in the final quarter. Legrand broke away for a 30-yard run to setup a 5-yard touchdown run by Bartley.
