It was a beautiful night for a football game between two top River Ridge District rivals. Patrick Henry (4-3) played host to the Spartans of Salem (6-0) in front of a capacity crowd at Gainer Field.

Patrick Henry received the opening kickoff and #2 Harris had a nice return to Salem's 47 yard line, tack on a personal foul for a face mask and PH was in business at Spartans 32 yard line. In the course of 3 plays PH was driven back to near midfield where they were forced to punt facing a 4th and 28. Salem returned the ball to the 32.

Alex Ramsey got off to a quick start with a 44 yard run to the PH 24. On the next play it was Ramsey again, this time for a 24 yard TD run, Salem up 7-0 early.

On Patrick Henry's next possession Quishon Calfee threw a perfect pass that hit his open receiver in the hands, but he dropped the sure TD. Salem forced a punt after PH got 1 first down.

As has been the case all year, Salem wasted little time in moving the ball down the field. Ramsey continued where he left off from the 1st drive bowling over PH defenders for a 55 yard gain. As Ramsey took a breather, Donte Clayborne had a nice 17 yard run of his own down to the 1. Ramsey came back in to finish off the drive with the 1 yard TD run, Salem 14-0.

PH had trouble on their next possession, getting a Personal foul for a face mask. Deangelo Ramsey sacked Calfee on the next play for an 8 yard loss. Calfee had a nice 15 yard run on 3rd down, but it was well short of a 1st down. PH was forced to punt giving the ball back to the visitors.

Salem used a mixture of runs and passes to move the ball on their next possession. Clayborne had a 5 yard run. Joseph Quinn caught a pass for 8 yards moving the chains. Fox had an 11 yard run for another 1st down. Ramsey had a 7 yard run and Joseph Quinn caught another pass for a 1st down. Clayborne ran the ball 19 yards down to the 1. FB Ramsey went in untouched for his 3rd score, Salem 21-0.

Salem attempted a pooch kick that actually went off to the side and Quinn made an awesome recovery just before it went out of bounds. It really caught both teams off guard, Salem will have to practice that and keep it for the playoffs. Clayborne had a 6 yard run. Ramsey had a big 16 yard run moving the chains. Noah Beckley was looking to pass on the next play, but pressure forced him to run, 28 yards later he was celebrating with his teammates in the endzone, Salem 28-0.

Calfee looked to get his team on the scoreboard on PH's next possession. He threw another beautiful pass to an open receiver who dropped the sure TD. Calfee ran the ball twice for about 20 yards. He nearly threw 2 interceptions on the drive, one to Nick Wade and the other to Luke Owen. Calfee threw a pass to #6 J Augustin for a 1st down. PH had a false start pushing them back 5 yards. D Ramsey got his 2nd sack of the night catching Calfee for a 9 yard loss. Owen had another near interception, but Salem was able to force a punt.

Owen took the punt around the 24 yard line, made a couple people miss, and raced down the Salem sideline for a 76 yard TD, Salem 34-0.

Calfee tried to get things going, he connected with #3 B Sayles for a 43 yard reception. On the next play PH fumbled and Ken McCauley recovered for Salem. PH was able to hold Salem for a 3 and out.

When PH got the ball back they were determined to get on the scoreboard before half. Daniel Ponton of Salem had a big tackle for loss on the first play driving them back 10 yards. Calfee made up for it on the next play completing a 45 yard pass. On top of that Salem had 2 PF's on the play for a face mask and a hit out of bounds moving PH 30 yards further downfield. Calfee had a 15 yard pass moving the ball down to the 2. Calfee took it in from there on the next play, Salem 34-7 just before half.

On the first play from scrimmage in the 2nd half Clayborne ran it 53 yards for the TD, Salem 41-7.

Calfee drove PH down the field and threw a 10 yd pass to Trusclair, Salem 41-14.

Salem took 7 minutes off the clock on their next drive. Ramsey, Clayborne, and Beckley ran for 53 yards on the drive and Tucker caught a 15 yard pass. A 13 yard sack by PH forced Salem to kick the 34 yard FG, Craft hit it Salem 44-14.

The next drive was full of penalties and plays with lost yardage. Salem had 2 PF's for a face mask and late hit. D Ramsey had a 15 yard sack and Calfee got an Unsportsmanlike penalty for throwing the ball down in frustration. There was another sack of 10 yards down to the 1. Faced with a 4th and 51 PH had to punt.

The punt went to the 34 where Salem took over. Viante Tucker caught a 34 yard TD pass on the next play, Salem 51-14.
