semifinal question for next year

SWVA has some good football , anyone can see that . Also carry some weight with the VHSL .

Exactly why do you think this? In the past many years there was East vs west so either side could have been left out. And assuming the VHSL goes through with the plans to rotate regions, the final next year could be A vs B or C vs D.

Like someone was saying earlier, the year Galax beat you in championship, Galax was a lower seed and could have lost to Essex, creating an A/B final.

Now if your argument is Region A is a long ways away from say Riverheads, I dont think there is much of a way around that. The fact of the matter is the state is a funny shape, and areas around here and further just have bigger schools. I'm not positive on this, but I believe the furthest up (maybe I need a compass) school in 1a is Stonewall Jackson. Most of the schools further up or out are 3a and up

I dont think that is the point at all. The point is, last year the final 4 (2 east and 2 west) cross bracketed. Highest East hosted lowest west and vice versa. So that isn't saying East or West is better, it's saying that there is a greater chance of having the 2 best teams.

@obguthr in the old system, even with both Riverheads and William Campbell being in what is now Region B, if they weren't paired together in early round bracket, they could have played each other in finals. If I remember correctly the final 4 in points was in order Essex, Riverheads, Sussex, and William Campbell. So in that case, Riverheads and William Campbell could have played in championship before
William Campbell was probably a bad example. The point is every team that has lost to the eventual champion in an early round can claim they should or could have played in the championship. Crossbracketing does indeed do the best job of placing the best teams in the championship, but it doesn't guarantee it and it may create travel burdens.

Galax and Sussex did not play each other in 2015 or any other year that I can find. Galax beat Essex in the semis that year. RH was undefeated until final and Galax had already lost 4 games but won final. Two best that year were probably RH and Essex. JMO
Two best that year? Galax beat both or them so where does that put them

I don't know about that. SWVA. Is treated like a red headed step child on all fronts. example: school funds, industry, etc. The. State ends at Roanoke and if you don't live west of Roanoke you probably want understand.

Seems they change things at the drop of a hat . The cross bracketing last year ended without a SWVA team in Salem and we see thats not going to happen again . May be nothing to it , but just looks bad .

I seriously doubt it was done for one class group. If that were the case, they could have just changed the playoff setup for 1a. There was one class in the last setup that didn't cross bracket
