Sherando vs Jefferson Forest

I think it will be a hell of a game that either team could win. I may give JF a slight advantage because they are at home. JF is a school that has good fan support and a somewhat unique stadium environment that provides a bit of intimidation.

Both teams have been at the top of the heap and slipped back in recent years. They both have made great strides recently and are hungry for more.

I think the question is who is going to settle for just making it to the Regional semifinals, and who is more determined to go further?

This will be a great game. Honestly is a toss up. I’ve seen JF play a handful of times this season. They run the ball well with a good, strong offensive line. The quarterback Marks can air it out too. Sherando has a good arm with their qb Micah Carlson. Should be a great one. I’ll give Sherando a slight edge but would not be surprised at all to see JF win.

I give it to Sherando. JF and Orange broke into a fight last night that they ended the game early with about 2 minutes left. Not sure if some players will not be allowed to play because there were some ejections. It was on WSET

I would give JF the edge here, though obviously I'll be pulling for the Warriors. JF only has one bad loss and that was to LCA, which I don't really count since LCA has an unfair advantage over everyone else. Sherando had a bad half against Kettle Run, who is probably the second or third best Class 3 team, and had an advantageous matchup at Handley with their QB going down. Might be controversial, but I think Handley with Darling and Akanbi was the best team in Region D.

If JF wins, it'll be through the air. Sherando is stout on the defensive line, weaker in the backfield (but much improved since the KR game).

The atmosphere isn't quite what it once was at Sherando, but the Warriors should still have a decent home field advantage. Need the fans to show up in greater numbers than they did last night. I get that it was mildly cold and a blowout was expected by many, and that the region winner is likely to get whacked by Phoebus, but the team is 10-1 and will benefit from the support against a team as good as JF.

I read an article on the game, but haven't found any videos of it. Weren't most of the ejections on Orange County's side?

Wow, if they were ejected for fighting, they are finished unless they make the championship game. It’s 3 games for fighting. Of course their parents can file for an injunction and have the playoffs suspended. Just saying…!

I’m riding with the Warriors , but will a tough matchup with JF no doubt. Not having to travel means a little I guess. Watched some of the JF game with Orange this morning on NFHS and JF runs some version of the single wing with a lot mis- direction with the RB’s . Sherando has experience with these types of Offense and has fared well stopping the runthis year. I have seen a vast improvement in Sherando as a team over the course of the season, and believe in them more than I did originally. Especially after seeing some of the other teams performances in the region. Why not us , is my new philosophy . I disagree with Handley being the best team in Region D, Although a fine team. I think Sherando would have beat them in Winchester last week no matter what. It would have just been a different type of game and a win in my opinion.
Defense will win it for Sherando, and just enough offense if Sherando can pull it out next week.

Not sure. I saw it in on WSET last night and they had some video of it. I talked to a coach today and he said it was bad. It must have been to end the game.

Believe JF only had one ejected, and it was after three Orange players ganged up on him. Orange is the one that looks way bad in it. Check out the 4th quarter on NFHS.
I know Orange has done this before.

We will see what happens to the JF player who was ejected I am sure JF will file an appeal. I got the film on the play today and the JF kid was punched I counted at least 12 times and did not retaliate. In fact it is clear from the film that he was turning away and trying to walk away. He only fought back when he got tackled by another player and even then he never threw a punch. He wrestled the kid off him. Plus all the Orange kids came off the sideline. No jf player left the sideline. It was clear from the very beginning that Orange had no discipline and somebody needs to be held accountable. One of the kids that ran on the field had already been ejected and by rule should have not been on the sideline.

Let’s all hope that JF has all of the players be able to make the trip to Stephen’s City this Friday. Sounds like he and others were provoked and did not initiate the fight.

The JF kid was clearly trying to keep the Orange player at arm's length as he turned his back to him and walked away before being dragged back in and pulled to the ground. They really need to do right by that kid. Anybody that was in that stadium would tell you that the JF player was not in the wrong.

Sherando’s field is pretty wet and more rain is on the way. Forecast calls for it to feel like 23 degrees at 7pm with 18mph winds and a 40-50% chance of rain. Perfect football weather.

This game will be won in the trenches and on the ground.

Not that it overly matters, but is JF home field turf or grass?

Good old Arrowhead Stadium. I enjoyed my two trips there in the 2023 season. Pretty cool seeing the warrior ride out on the horse and plant the spear on the field. Reminded me of Florida State. I wonder if they still do that. A lot of memories walking on the trail at Sherando Park walking past the stadium too. Beautiful park there in Stephens City, VA to get out and explore nature. Hey Shruikan, does Sherando still have the warrior come out and plant the spear?

They do! They didn't have one for the first half of this season. The owner retired the horse, but they have gotten another one

These kinda traditions are one of the things that makes high school football great. Communities love football. I feel high school kids play football with a lot of passion and that’s special

Any word on whether the suspension of the kid from JF was overturned?
I read that his suspension got reduced to one game so he'll be out for tonight. If he really wasn't involved in starting the fight and was just defending himself against a bunch of Orange County players, you have to feel for the guy. Zero-tolerance policies help no one.

Looks like it’s gonna be cold and windy up in Stephen’s City tonight at Sherando. Gonna be tough for either team to throw the football. Looks like it’ll be a ground and pound type game for each team. Gotta battle the elements
