STICK A FORK IN THEM

The alarming thing is that it took a while to conduct the investigation. I hope that the VHSL 's investigation ran parallel to Fairfax County's. I'm not surprised that Fairfax County's investigation came out now it did. It's a strange World up there.

However, the VHSL showed competence in conducting an investigation and they made the decision prior to the playoffs.

I usually give the VHSL a lot of deserved criticism, but this time, it looked like they were able come to a conclusion which may not be popular with many folks who follow the sport.

24 annnnd 25. lol get wrecked
Probably better to say potentially wrecked at this point until all appeals are exhausted. The VHSL and its committees have been known to cave to the power of the largest schools systems in the state and the make up of the committee that hears the appeal may have some bearing on the final outcome.

Some other teams may be on the block as well.
You referenced an 804 team maybe being next. This flurry of activity at this particular time begs the question as to what, if anything, has all of a sudden changed or maybe it is just a case of pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered as the actions have become more brazen. A 2 year ban has certainly got the attention of someone.

Vhsl is scared of lawsuits. Look at the LCA situation

Who do you believe will be suing the VHSL and under what cause? I think the LCA situation is a different matter. LCA, under the Liberty umbrella, had massive resources that VHSL could not hope to match and, with that consideration and trial risk the VHSL opted to settle and get the best deal available. Likely proved to be the right decision for multiple reasons.

A disgruntled parent could easily try to orchestrate a frivolous suit against the school, the district, and vhsl.

Doubt a disgruntled parent has resources and doubt there is anything there to entice an attorney, aside from them being the disgruntled part or a friend of the parent and that is before we discuss what the relief might be that they would seek.

It’s Northern Virginia

I understand it's Northern Virginia but, I think you misjudge the amount of resources that might be required to scare the VHSL off a lawsuit, not to mention the top shelf legal talent that might be needed to scare them.

I think you are giving the VHSL way too much credit.

Let me explain it to you. The VHSL is not suit averse but, they are not stupid. You trotted out the LCA situation seemingly without understanding the nature of the suit. First, under the Liberty umbrella, LCA had plentiful financial resources to contest a suit if it went to trial, likely far more than most, if not any and all, disgruntled Northern Virginia parents. Second, to further demonstrate their commitment LCA engaged Winston & Strawn LLP an international law firm headquarted in Chicago with substantial litigation resources at their disposal. Finally, LCA was fighting for a long term business objective.

I will ask you again, do you really see a disgruntled parent mounting a serious and substantial lawsuit and, if so, what is their objective/goal for relief? I have given the VHSL credit for recognizing the nature of threats and their best options to defend against those threats. Perhaps you can explain what you believe the VHSL has to be scared of in a suit surrounding this situation? You made a good call on the ban, not so much on the assessment of the VHSL legal peril, at least so far.

O how there’s so much more to the Hayfield thing than some may know. I work with someone close to the situation that I very seriously doubt would give false information. I’ll leave it at that considering this will take a back seat to the Patriot situation that will be front and center.

They used kids from their PME rec team. Overton is one hell of a coach.
They obviously didn't do it the correct way. Lol. You don't just have that many kids transfer in one off-season. Rec teams may not have zones and he could go and recruit at the youth level, but high school does and if they were doing it illegally, then it doesn't matter.

This is corny honestly. The school district said in August that Hayfield was cleared and now after the whole season goes by now they’re ineligible?

The kids are getting the short end of the stick. Just suspend DO rest of the year but don’t take what these kids worked for away from them.

I agree that the kids are getting short changed. But their parents knew that they were breaking the rules and just went along with it. From hearing from people closer to the situation, it seems like the school system said there wasn't any wrongdoing, because they were trying to cover their own tracks. But no way that many students moved into the Hayfield school zone and are paying tuition. Why not go to an average program and build them up into a contender, instead of recruiting. Ultimately, Overton not only screwed over Hayfield, but he did the same to Freedom as well.

It takes time to investigate and build a case. Yes, the kids are suffering, but the coaches, parents, school admin, and possibly the kids themselves were fully aware of their transgressions. In life we all must be held accountable for our actions. I heard a great quote today that applies to this situation. "Excuses are just lies".
