Junior Brett Kreyer pitched a 1-hit shutout and Stone Bridge advanced to the 5A State championship with a 6-0 win over Douglas Freeman. Kreyer, a lefty, allowed only four baserunners while striking out four.

Kreyer kept the Rebel batters off target all afternoon while competing with Douglas Freeman Eric O'Brien in a pitchers duel until a couple of errors by the Rebels defense broke up the scoreless tie.

Eli Quicenco and Michael Kuzbel both reached base on infield errors. Senior Tannner Karafa hit a fly ball to right field which bounced in front of the right fielder for an RBI to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Matthew Fialdini then drilled a 2-run single past the 3rd baseman to extend the lead to 3-0. Two of the runs were unearned.

Stone Bridge added three more runs in the 6th inning although Kreyer told Douglas Freeman head coach Sam Plank that he did not need them. Karafa started the inning with a walk and scored on a single by Kreyer. John Callhan ripped a double to right field scoring a run and Eric Johnson ended the scoring with a single to push the lead to 6-0.

O'Brien lasted until the final out in the 6th inning allowing four earned runs and eight hits. He allowed only one hit in the first three innings. Coleman Greene was the only rebel player with a hit.

Kreyer tossed seven complete innings allwing one hit and one walk. He also collected two hits including and RBI double in the 6th inning.
