LC Bird finished the season with 589 points in 15 games... that puts them at third for highest points scored in a season of Richmond Region teams. Interesting to note that 5 of the top 8 offenses have occurred this century and the top three came within the last two years... in large part due to the fact that those teams played 15 games... Having that extra game does help...

719 in 15 games for the 2013 Dinwiddie Generals
669 in 15 games for the 2013 LC Bird Skyhawks
589 in 15 games for the 2014 LC Bird Skyhawks
575 in 14 games for the 2008 Dinwiddie Generals

545 in 14 games for the 1999 Henrico Warriors
539 in 11 games for the 2004 Varina Blue Devils
529 in 14 games for the 1996 Patrick Henry Patriots
521 in 14 games for the 1999 Varina Blue Devils

Interesting to note the top four is dominated by two teams...

The 2004 Varina Blue Devils make the list in just 11 games, wonder what they could have done if not for a loss to LC Bird in a game played at Lee-Davis because the week before the Varina field got torn up in the season finale versus Highland Springs which featured Macho Harris.

#3-8 are the only teams in the Richmond Region to have scored over 500 points in a season. Obviously with that said, there have only been two that scored 600+ in a season.

Interesting to note three teams on this list were coached by David Bedwell... 1999 Henrico and 2013-2014 LC Bird

The game that really helps, in my opinion with the 15 games is that first playoff game. Good teams seem to rack up points right there.

INterestingly, this year was the second most points allowed by Bird since 1999. I wouldn't expect that from a state championship team, even with a 15 game schedule. Bird gave up 11.2 points per game this year, and while that's not bad, they were more stingy in points allowed per game in 11 of the previous 15 seasons. The most the Skyhawks have given up in a season since 1999 is 15.9 per game (175 points), last year was their best season statistically in just about every category. They only gave up 6.9 points per game. The 1979 Skyhawks only allowed 33 points in the regular season, but were lit up for 45 in their lone playoff game against Southampton which ended up being 7.1 points per game.

The Central Region defensive record goes to John Marshall (some time like 1940 or 1941) where they had two consecutive seasons where they did not allow a point.
