Here's my ranking of the best districts in 2A, minimum of 3 teams playing 2A. What's yours?

1. Three Rivers
2. Shenandoah
3. Bull Run
4. Southwest
5. Mountain 7
6. James River
7. Dogwood

Not knowing enough about which school is in what district and too fricken lazy to look it up, I have no idea. Is there one place for lazy guys like me to see who's in what district?:D

Not sure what criteria is but Dogwood has had teams in state title game 14 of last 16 years, and currently has the Edmunds brothers in the NFL along with Juan Thornhill who, in all likelihood, will be there next year. To rank them 7 to me seems nuts if you’re looking long term

If you go by the current VHSL power point rankings(released today) and only include the 2A teams in each district, the average point totals for each district would be as follows:

1.) Three Rivers 20.75555
2.) Shenandoah 19.44643
3.) BullRun 18.50714
4.) Mountain 18.13195
5.) James River 17.50312
6.) Dogwood 17.25794
7.) Southwest 17.1875

Since these ratings are used to determine who gets into the playoffs and at what seed, I would say they are a pretty good indicator of team and schedule strength. The higher the rating the better the team and schedule, thus the stronger the district.

I would say all time it has to be Dogwood. There have been a few excellent teams in Shenandoah each year, and dominant teams in other districts, but Dogwood has consistently been contending each year

Martinsville could make a strong case, but they would be wrong.

I was just gonna say that Martinsville's schedule would be in the running year in and year out based on who they are (2A with declinining enrollment) and who they play. The District as a whole has been fairly weak for a while now though. Magna Vista had the 2 championship seasons and GW is GW. Add in William Byrd along with other 4A and 5A games along the way and they have to be in the conversation.

@Mayberryite I can understand wanting to keep the district that they have played in in the Piedmont, but why not schedule more Dogwood teams for non district opponents? Not that long of a drive and beats playing like William Byrd. I have always found the Piedmont to be a very odd district in its setup with having a wide stretch of schools of various sizes and breakdowns, but some schools just need a place to call home.

Might I add, no 2A in the state has a tougher regular season schedule than Poquoson and Bruton.

Might add Richlands to that list. 5 opponents are 37-4. Union, Blacksburg, Bluefield, Byrd and Graham. Prettty darn tough.

After researching Poqouson has only played 2 teams with a winning record of 5-3. Of course they may have played tougher teams so would take more research to gauge that but Richlands definitely has to be on that list.

MHS did move in that direction this season to a point. Chatham and DR are on the schedule. Galax is on the schedule in place of Byrd starting next year as I understand it.

And the district issues will go away some starting next year as 6A Franklin County heads to the Blue Ridge District and Halifax drops from 5A to 4A. Now the 7 team district will only span from 2A-4A and every school is located relatively close to US-58.

The Bay Rivers is a 10 team district and as each team plays every other team in the district once, there are 45 wins and 45 losses to be had. Reducing that number this season is the fact that Bruton, due to low numbers, only plays 5 games, forfeiting five of their games to 4A opponents. Poquoson has played, or will play by regular season's end, five 4A teams, four 3A teams and one 2A team. Their out of district game was against 3A Southampton, a team that has fallen short of expectations this year.

If the question is toughest schedule, it's hard to argue with that. But Poquoson wouldn't qualify in toughest 2a districts because of the small amount of 2a schools in the district (if I understood the OP correctly)
