Virginia Academy overcome an 11 point deficit then held off a late 3-point barrage to upset #1 seed Williamsburg Christian Academy in the VISAA D3 semi-finals. Jahlil Jenkins finished with 20 points for Virginia Academy who are looking to win a state championship in their very 1st year.
The Patriots outscored Williamsburg Christian 19-9 in the pivotal 3rd quarter to take a 50-43 lead. They led by as much as 12 points (63-51) in the fourth quarter before the Eagles starting hitting 3's to get back in the game.
The key to the 3rd quarter surge was the inside-out offense deployed by the Patriots. Simon Ejike-Obinna (6-foot-9) and Qudus Wahob (6-foot-10) scored a few inside baskets which opened the outside for Tadas Nuasadas who drained two treys. Nuasadas finished with five treys and 18 points.
