WP runs double wingShould be a fast moving game, with both teams running the single wing offense
They run double and single. At least they did the last 2 years. I haven't seen them play this yearWP runs double wing
KQ and WP had 2 close games in the spring and they both have pretty much the same team. I think they'll have another good one in a couple of weeks. As for KW, that's a different monster. It was 48-0 at the half in the spring and KW took their foot off the gas. KW is known for their offense, but their defense is just as good in my opinion. They have size and speed and fly to the ball. Not a lot of depth but they have about 8 or 9 really good players. 3 running backs, each with a different skill set that goes well with their scheme. If they would pass a little on earlier downs, i think it would benefit them later when they play tougher competiton. Their "QB" can throw it well enough to keep teams honest.
Defensively they can be pretty good, i think they will improve since this was their 2nd game. CB shot themselves in the foot. WP has a really good DE #52 and 2 solid inside backers.
FG has a strong leg but the protection isnt very good. I don't see anyone except KW beating them in the regular season. If WP really slows the game down to a crawl and grinds it out they may be able to keep KW within striking distance and then you never know. Best way to beat KW is to keep their explosive offense off the field, in my opinion.
I thought the last WP win was 98. It was Ben Vincent's senior year. KW won the state championship in 2000, and their only losses were their first 2 games, to New Kent and CarolineYeah, I’ve given up on the WP/KW matchup victory hope. 2018 we had em RIGHT THERE and threw a pick 6 while knocking on the door of the win. Would’ve been the first WP win over KW since 2000. Instead, here we are 21 years later…
I just checked fourseasonsfootball.com and it was 1998. Ben Vincent had like 40 carries that game and WP won 21-12I thought the last WP win was 98. It was Ben Vincent's senior year. KW won the state championship in 2000, and their only losses were their first 2 games, to New Kent and Caroline
WP physically imposed their will on CB. CB played hard and as usual are a well coached team. But after almost a month of no action, our boys were chomping at the bit to get after somebody and tonight that somebody was the drifters.Dangggg wonder if WP is killing it or if CB is struggling. Either way, glad to see my pointers win in big fashion.
Oh okay. He must have been a junior instead of a senior then. Yeah, I remember those days when Channel 8 News would fly in and cover the games. It was always a big deal, because they usually only came about once or maybe twice a year. Was def 21-12. And I guess I misremembered the year. Crazy game. News chopper flew in to the game beside the field at KW.
Correction though: Ben graduated in spring 2000 so his senior season was 1999.
