Why so many Thursday games this season?

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but please remind me.

There were always Thursday games around Labor Day and Rosh Hashana.

In Hampton and Newport News it is because 4 schools share one stadium in Hampton and 5 schools share one stadium in Newport News.

I haven't really noticed an uptick in the amount of games though, seems about on par with what has always been.

Well it sure seemed as if there have been more Thursday games in my area this year, and Louisa plays Albemarle next Thursday. Maybe that's why it felt like an increase this year to me.

UVA plays on Friday night on Friday, Sept. 25. The Hokies play on Friday, Oct. 9. Many high schools elected to play on Thursday that nights those weeks to escape the competition (or maybe because the AD's have season tickets). Here's an article from Bluefield Daily Telegraph

Yeah that's what I now remember discussing before. It's all about the $$$$.
