Just saw the score over W&L and know they finished 8-2 and will enjoy a first round bye and top 4 seed. Way to go drifters.

Can't wait to see how you guys do in the post season.

Especially if the rumor is true that CB is closing soon. Possibly next year? Wouldn't it be cool to make a strong playoff run in your final year of existence as an actual high school?

Anybody know for a fact, the fate of CB?

Nobody is really talking about this story.

I guess we will all stay tuned.

Have not heard that about CB. However, I do know a new Washington & Lee High School will soon be constructed. Not sure if those two schools will merge or not.

Wow! This is my 1st time hearing that this might be the last year of the school. If true and they join Washington & Lee, W&L is going to be force in sports. They've for the most part, have had good teams. Putting all that talent in one school....WOW!!!

I agree, but wander if that would put them into 3A?

They'd probably be close but I would guess if that were to happen they'd be 2A still. W&L is supposed to go back to 1A next year anyways and the max for 1A is 475 I believe and CB has less than 200 so my guess is they'd stay at 2A at least for the time being. That is of course if the rumor is true. Personally I hope it isn't as I've always enjoyed watching the scrappy Beach teams compete with schools a lot bigger than them.

At this point in time I believe a merger is a false rumor. I believe I read where Westmoreland will have to pay a certain percentage of the construction cost to Colonial Beach to offset CB taxpayer dollars to fund the project. That leads me to believe CB is going to continue maintaining its school system. Of course things do change.

I agree with NNDman. If my recollection is correct, Colonial Beach is suppose to be constructing a new elementary school. I could be wrong as I haven't read about it in a while.

Even if CB and W&L merged, which sounds doubtful, they would still easily be a 2A.

The combined school would be around 650 students - far below the about 800 or so cut off for 2A to 3A.

Goochland has just under 800 students (in 780s) and is a 2A.
