Anyone know if Brunswick beat Sussex Central?

It will be interesting. One of Sussex’s players threw the first punch and then fled which led to altercation, it wasn’t caught on camera but a flag was thrown. It was also mentioned that a Sussex coach was heard at halftime instigating and initiating the incident telling their kids that “they don’t make it out alive”.
The Sussex player did throw the first punch. #5 from Brunswick removed his helmet and spit in the face of Sussex player resulting in the punch being throw, there is zero credibility that a coach made a statement like that at halftime. Brunswick from what I heard season may be suspended totally from the incident. Please be factual and stop trying save Brunswick season with lies.

Breaking News: New Playoff Format for Class 6 and Class 4.

Who do you think is coming out of 4D?

Anyone know if Brunswick beat Sussex Central?

I believe it was called. Interested to see what punishments come from the fight with post season coming and Brunswick expected to be the 2 seed in 1B. Quite a few skirmishes going on the NFHS video, and majority of Brunswick bench emptying onto the field

Staunton Storm Settles Shenandoah Suspense...But There is More to Come!!!

Not the best news for the ladies as only two of our six teams survived first round play. Fort Defiance won a home match over county rival Stuarts Draft, and Buffalo Gap made a longggg and successful road trip to Franklin where they won easily.

Otherwise, Wilson lost a tight five-set match at home to a lower seed (Brookville), Riverheads lost in three sets at Clarke County, and Staunton took a 2-1 lead at Broadway in an 8 vs 9 match-up before the Lady Gobblers came back to win in five.

Kickoff Question.

Legitimate question here, not trying for a "gotcha" moment. Is a dropkick (where the ball is dropped, hits the ground and is kicked off the bounce) allowed in HS? I believe the last one in the NFL was successfully done by Doug Flutie with the Patriots.
It is. And because it's in the rules, it's discussed far more than it's seen, especially by those among us who gather in groups and talk about things that will likely never happen. A drop kick must also be controlled. The drop part of it must be planned and executed and the ball is kicked as it touches the ground or is bouncing back up.

Is it just me or does it seem to be more skirmishes than normal this year?

Region C standings

Glenvar will not likely lose to Carroll County but if they did, Radford will be the one seed and Glenvar then in a neck and neck race with Gretna for the 2nd seed as Gretna will beat William Campbell in game 10
I think 1-4 is mostly set. Carroll has no shot at beating Glenvar unless they don't show up. I'm more curious about the 5-8 seeds. based on the VHSL helper post, it looks like Patrick moves to 6th, Martinsville 7th and Nelson falls to 8th assuming Patrick wins and Martinsville loses this week.

Phoebus 27 Warwick 17 FINAL

in my head we are the 2008 Patriots on offense 🤣 but yeah i get it we are a defensive team that can score at will when needed but mainly wear teams out. But as Maury fan you have to know the trash Warwick was talking to yall all year last year only to get whooped. I think if they matchup Maury will try to shut them out and put up 50 to embarrass them.
Oh yeah. I see the samething happening this year. Also I hated seeing online all these Warwick fans parents mainly talking bout people trolling and talking bout them after the game but I'm like naw naw naw yall let folks on your side keep poking the bear so tell them hush till yall actually beat someone not named KF.

Well, Well. Week 10. What caught my eye this week?

Agree , I watched them play Hopewell and Hopewell was going toe to toe with them until quarterback Tatum got hurt, it was 21 - 9 in the 3rd quarter and the sophomore quarterback for hopewell threw 3 interception and that sealed the game. 42-9. But Matoaca is talented but Maury is a beast and I don't think Matoaca or any other C5 team will beat them. Just my opinion from seeing them play.

NEW cheat sheets for Region D are up

I am getting different numbers for Salem.
Currently 241
Pulaski 22+8 or 10+5
Riders Max
LCA 1
WF 1
FC/LB 2
Northside/WB 2
PH/HV 2
Pulaski/cs 2
Max Points with win 281-275
I have JF ahead of Salem even if they lose. It will come down to a few rider points and Salem would need several upsets. What am I missing?
I have the same max 281 for Salem.

How I would fix the unbalanced Class 4 regions.

I know that Billy Haun mentioned that he wants to focus on regional balance. Per the VHSL website, the regions for Class 4 are out of whack again for the final two years of the current four year cycle. The number of schools in each region under the current proposed plan for two years beginning in 2025 is:

Region A: 11
Region B: 18
Region C: 9
Region D: 15

This is what I would do since it appears that we don't have any monumental changes in terms of structure coming down the pipe in order to help even up the regions a little better. I keep a running total in parentheses as I go down my little list.

Move Eastern View, Caroline, Chancellor, Courtland, King George, and Spotsylvania from Region B to Region D. (This would give Region B 12 schools and Region D 21 schools.)
Move Handley, James Wood, Liberty (Bealeton), Millbrook, and Sherando from Region D to Region C. (This would give Region D 16 schools and Region C 14 schools.)
Move Charlottesville, Orange County from Region D to Region B. (This would give Region D 14 schools and give Region B 14 schools.)

There you go. This keeps district schools together (I think). And the regions are now as follows in size:

Region A: 11
Region B: 14
Region C: 14
Region D: 14

Here's some of my rationale.

I moved the Battlefield schools out west because for years, Halifax County, George Washington, and the larger Roanoke area schools had to come to Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and Stafford County for regional play. And vice versa of course. The drives really aren't that bad overall (King George and Caroline have a little extra hike but nothing not manageable when it comes to regional play).

And someone has to be paired with the western schools. This time around, I think the Battlefield schools should be the ones under the current system we have. The distances between the schools I just mentioned above are actually a little further than the Battlefield schools (except for maybe King George and Caroline which may be closer to what they were before).
The five schools I moved from Region D to Region C just makes sense because it keeps all of those schools together in Northern Virginia.

Also, moving Charlottesville and Orange County from Region D to Region B also allows them to join Louisa County in regional play at Louisa County drops back down to Class 4 next year. Plus, they all get the best of both worlds being affiliated with and playing both the Charlottesville and Richmond schools.

I don't think the Battlefield schools overall click with the Richmond area schools so that was another (yet smaller) reason why I moved them out west. And before anyone complains (because they take hypotheticals so personal), I didn't move your team because I had some type of vendetta against them. I've been a long time Battlefield guy and went to a Battlefield school so I thought this would be the best option under the current system we are in.

Barring some drastic realignment (such as what I have proposed on this board several times), I think these are probably the best compromises.

Well, Well. Week 10. What caught my eye this week?

Crazy as it sounds, think Louisa and Fleming are the two most exciting teams in 5C. I don’t have a lot of faith in Matoaca. They outta be ashamed of themselves for that schedule they played (these studs been in their program all 4 years; definitely should’ve set a 2 year contract up to play Varina/Highland Springs/Maury/Phoebus). Playing Henrico and Ponax is CRAAAZY WORK. Bryce Yates definitely brings another element to that offense at QB. With the talent they have and schedule they’ve played, I’d like to have seen Maury and Hayfield numbers.

Well, Well. Week 10. What caught my eye this week?

What caught my eye is Spotsylvania (4-5) scoring 35 points on King George. 28 of them were in the first half and they scored in the 3rd quarter to make it 40-35 before King George pulled away. The got the win and that's what counts. Spotsylvania must have played a heck of a game to hang with them well into the 3rd quarter. King George is great offensively but are they good enough defensively to hang with Varina, Dinwiddie, and Huguenot?

Congratulations to Varina on their big win today.

4B will be very interesting.
Spotsylvania actually scored 42.

Phoebus 27 Warwick 17 FINAL

Also let's be honest if PHS was a high powered offense that isn't more conservative that game is a blowout. Where you look at maury game last year they boat raced them off the field same as dinwiddie did to them.

you talk like that was a bad thing.
It was. Not because they ended up with the two best teams, but because they created a situation that went against what had been announced prior to the season and followed for years. The change also robbed two other teams of a chance to reach the final. Unless they adopt reseeding after a specific round or rounds this is wrong.
