Matoaca v PG

Poor Coach Hall. He has a lot of work to do to get the Royals competitive. The sad thing is he has a pile of big guys out there. I expected them to be competitive this year, but just be short on talent in key places that other teams would exploit. They had way too many weaknesses for a team that big, with that many kids on the team. They have not lived up to my expectations.
They play some extremely tough teams. The combined record of the teams who have given them their 5 losses is, 37-8. He has four wins this season, where as they only had 6 wins in the previous three years combined. I think probably the biggest thing at a school that is used to losing, is changing the culture of the entire program. I don't know if PG will ever be a state title contender, but I look for them to continue to improve in the next year or two.

I agree 100%.

With respect to the post above:
I see no “clarification” anywhere. I think that is erroneous information.
There is an appeal hearing tomorrow at 2:00 pm. There would be no appeal hearing for a “recommendation”.
There are a lot of eyes on this thing now and some that the various involved parties are likely unaware of at present. They will likely do themselves much more harm than good IF they try to cut corners again like they did with the initial investigation.

They got what they deserve straight up. No debate, build a super team, displace the existing players, ruin the school you left and be so tone deaf your social media bravado is #hayfieldby50 slaughtering the downtrodden local teams. It’s not the action for me, it’s the brazen outright bragging about it that makes me have no empathy. It’s indefensible!

You missed the part about taking a knee. If you are up 30 on a team you have beaten easily over the past several years why try to score another touchdown? Does it matter if the starters or the 2nd string is in? This is just one example of why others don't care for Graham or their
I didn’t miss the part about taking a knee. It probably does matter to a kid who works his butt off in practice but doesn’t start or get to play much who’s a Senior. It happens in other games with other teams everywhere in the United States, the score can get lopsided even with 2nd string in the game. Some teams are just better than their opponents. I don’t begrudge any kid on any team that works their butt off to have an opportunity to score a TD when that kid rarely sees playing time. It’s like going to work everyday and finally getting a paycheck. So yes, we’ll agree to disagree on the Pulaski game.

I’m not defending anything from Tazewell game. That was a mess on both sides.

From my understanding it is a recommendation from VHSL to FCPS and the Class 6 Region C principals and ADs (all of whom are FCPS schools). FCPS has already conducted their investigation and concluded no wrong doing. I would not be surprised at all if nothing comes of this and Hayfield meets Oscar Smith in the state championship game December 14th.
I guess that would be a jury of one's peers but, extremely unlikely to be an impartial one. I am also guessing that unless the VHSL shares its findings with FCPS it is unlikely those findings would be subject to FOIA and maybe not even then. It will be interesting to see the odor, if any, that will emanate from the final resolution.

Is Poquoson the best team in 2A?

They are one of them. Look great on video. Well coached, athletic, and bigger than what they have been along the line. They are usually small on the line and have great technique to make up for lack of size. They actually have some decent size this year not big, but not as small as the past. They can win a state title. They have the advantage of home field position. They are the Region A first seed and they have already locked up the highest seed over Region B, even if they lose to Lafayette, Region B would travel to Poquoson IF Poquoson gets out of Region A and that's a difficult place to play.

Lafayette will beat Poquoson. Lafayette might end up with 15 wins. They are that good.
Lafayette is D-4? Correct? I watched a couple of games on NFHS for Poquoson and they are impressive. They don't have a lot of bodies on the sideline, but they are a very solid team, good in all aspects of the game.

"Recommendation" to who? If it was just a "Recommendation" then why is there a need to appeal until an actual decision has been handed down? This situation, if handled properly, could have been decided long before now. However, whoever greenlighted the original sham investigation in the FCPS just muddied the water instead of designing a true independent investigation of facts to resolve the matter. Whoever has true oversight for the FCPS Board and administrators should likely be asking, maybe even long before now, some very specific, and likely uncomfortable, questions of the parties involved.

Kickoff Question.

If he kicked it, there would have been a flag for illegal kicking. You can only legally kick the ball as a free kick or an obvious (read: controlled) scrimmage kick. When I say 'controlled," I mean that even if it's a scrimmage kick situation, the kick has to be controlled. If the ball is dropped and loose on the ground, the kicker cannot try kick a loose ball off the ground.

Graham only has a starting o-line. You missed the part where they don’t even have enough for a JV. Starting o-line are backups for d-line, starting d-line are backups for o-line. Graham doesn’t even have a back up QB. They have two that start, one primarily passes & the other works out of Wildcat and primarily runs it. There isn’t a 3rd string QB to put in. No one is making excuses but to imply Graham left all the starters in to run up the score isn’t accurate. Tony Palmer has never been known for running up the score. He normally pulls as many starters as possible in a blowout even when opposing teams don’t.

Fair enough point about the backups.

But then you said he has never been known for running up the score.

But other folks have said in this thread that they made attempts to score more points in the last moments of the last two games, with both scores being well in hand.

And we’ve already talked about the onside kicks in the 4th quarter on a running clock.

It’s crazy how different people see things different ways. Maybe you’re too close to the situation to see it for what it really is?

Maybe you want to discredit me because you think I’m coming down to hard on Graham/Coach Palmer.

Either way is fine.

I only started replying because I appreciated GHS87’s reply. I agreed with most of what he said. If he can see what he has seen & said what he said, we all can.

if you don’t want to, that’s fine. We can all agree to disagree on what is the best way handle our selves and the youth.

Starting offensive line. Starting quarterback. Receivers split out wide on both sides didn’t even move. What are you trying to justify?

VHSL director of communications Mike McCall clarified to the Times-Dispatch on Saturday that the league's sanctions are a "recommendation." I'm just saying, folks, better not count this as a done deal.
