Or...as I am just seeing the comment above, will Region A go with a seven team bracket with the one seed getting a bye in the first round?

State Semifinals Cross Bracketing Question

I was on the 6A board and saw that Cross Bracketing as been approved which means Region A Champ vs Region D Champ and Region B champ vs Region C Champ and the winners will play in the Championship. I couldn't quite tell if that was for all classifications or just Class 6 and 4? It would be nice to see some fresh match ups in 1a State Semifinals. Does anyone know if they are going this route in 1A this year? On the thread in the 6A board it said that 1A was 44 out of 46 in favor of the move.
That's not "cross bracketing". They are just rearranging the brackets for some ridiculous reason with the regular season almost complete.

There is a difference between the two.

STICK A FORK IN THEM

I’m all for kids transferring to improve their academic and athletic situations. What’s lame as hell with this generation is they try to form superteams. What’s even more lame is these “adults” that call themselves “coaches” were renting vans and taking kids up 95 to workout at Hayfield back when DO got hired and into the summer. Their playoff ban is 100% correct call by the VHSL.

Similar situation happening down in South Carolina with a coach that left a state contender and brought a third of his team with him. The coach left Clinton High School (located halfway between Fayetteville and Wilmington) and ended up at Marlboro County (you more than likely pass through there if you go to Myrtle Beach coming down 220), which is about 100 miles from Clinton. WILD as hell that people find stuff like this legal.

VHSL director of communications Mike McCall clarified to the Times-Dispatch on Saturday that the league's sanctions are a "recommendation." I'm just saying, folks, better not count this as a done deal.

Final: Tazewell 245, Graham 185

Didn't Graham try to punch another score in at the end of the game last week on the 1 yard line up big? I don't know why so many questions the penalties and discipline issues when the kids are arguing with the coaches from the field.
I watched this one on NFHS last week. Graham had all starters in on offense except for the runningback and tried to punch it in from the 1 yard line as time ran out in the game. They were up 35-3 I believe at the time. Pulaski stopped them from scoring on the 1.

Wonder what Pulaski did to deserve that? Had to have been Pulaski’s fault, per the @SWDRules method of thinking.

You show class, you get class. You show your ass you get your ass whipped.

I think you’re on the wrong side of this one.

Graham, while wildly successful over the last ten years, would rank in the bottom half of the “class” rankings if you did a blind poll.

I think we all have seen it but Graham folks have done a good job of keeping it contained until this year. I commend their fans who aren’t willing to fall in line and sacrifice integrity.

With that being said, it’s hard to argue with results. If Coach Palmer is okay with his players and coaches acting that way since it obviously isn’t keeping them from winning games, so be it. It’s his program. And I’m sure the results give him a much longer leash.

Yes and I wasn't a fan of them scoring with 2 minutes left on a running clock either. You don't win over fans doing that kind of stuff. The taunting, jawing, unsportsmanlike behavior needs to stop too. That is not the way to win a ballgame. I don't care if the other team was acting like fools too, either. Look at teams like Appomattox and Riverheads, they win or lose with class and that's a reflection of their program.

I appreciate you saying this 19GHS87.
Palmer is a phenomenal coach as far as assembling a team. He always has the most talent on the field. However, his guys are not disciplined anyway you slice it. It seems to get worse every year.

Phoebus 27 Warwick 17 FINAL

Warwick was celebrating with 4 minutes to go as if the Phantoms have not demolished multiple team's hopes, dreams and biggie bag dinner plans with these miraculous 4th quarter comebacks over the years. There's a telling that on cold and windy nights inside Darling Stadium Austin Grebe can still be heard saying, "But I was in....wasn't I in?" No. Austin you were short.
Rewatching the 56 yard pass you can tell their players were unfocused because Ro Smith caught the pass on 3 Warwick players. The one Warwick DB tried for the pick instead of batting pass down. He does that then Phoebus is most likely 8-1 and all the win streaks are over.

Dinwiddie fans know all about that feeling. I think the ghost of Darling Stadium made its way up 460 West in 2010. The Phoebus fourth quarter comeback still haunts us and provides a sense of respectful distaste for the Phantoms.

Damn I’ll be in Richmond area Friday too…might have to go hear that cannon in person. Or will it be streamed anywhere?
Man we ain’t give you permission to be in the 804 😂..

You know what sucks? RVA Sports Network used to do all of the big games. I don’t know of any live streams in the 804. I know Gary and Gary will be doing a live radio show. If you have Facebook, you can find more info on their site. Safe travels bro.

Appreciate people like you giving fact based opinions.

I watched some of the Graham game last night while switching back and forth between others.

Their offense didn’t seem to have that home run hitter like they always have.

On another note, a funny one, as soon as I started watching at one point I saw Graham kick a successful onside kick. Don’t remember the exactly when it was.. either late 3rd or early 4th, but they were up at least 30+ at the time LOL

Lafayette 56 York 6

I know how you feel about shared fields. I hate them too.
Playing there is a lot closer to being at an away game that being at a home game.

When your field and field house are at your own school like ours is, it’s home. You have your own locker, you have all your personal stuff in it. You have the same chair in the training room. You know where everything is. In our case there is always snacks available as well as liquid refreshments. The kids can come and go as they please, within the coaches guidelines of course.

It’s truly their home away from home, and they don’t share it with anyone.
I Agree. On the field at Wanner Stadium there is no Lafayette Rams logo anywhere. No midfield, end zone or wrap around goal posts insignia. It’s home but not home at times. And physically it’s pretty much next door to Warhill HS. When I win the lottery I am paying for Lafayette to have their own stadium. that’s if the county doesn’t cry foul!!
