John Handley (1-0) is set to face off against the Black Knights of Charlottesville (1-0) tomorrow night at 7:30pm. Both teams are coming off cupcake poundings to warm up for each other, Handley won at Broadway 74-45 while Charlottesville handled Covenant at home 75-30. Handley went to the state championship three years ago, but went an underwhelming 6-19 the next year. They did a nice job of rebuilding last year, going 14-8. They return a strong nucleus of sophomores and juniors, led by juniors Keyvon Martin and Kobe Tingey. Charlottesville, on the other hand, followed up their 24-2 season with a slightly disappointing 15-6 record and a loss in the conference semifinals. The Black Knights are led by hot-shooting senior Jaylen Hudson and big man Khalil Vest, while juniors Immanuel Wells, Sam Neale, and athletic 6-6 Kajaun Stinnie round out the main men for Charlottesville. The last time these two teams met was in 2015, at the Conference 23 semifinals at Fluvanna County High School, where Charlottesville pounded the Judges 75-56. Handley, however, is a completely different team from that 6-19 team. They are ready to make some noise in 4A. Charlottesville is not an easy place to play, so it will be the first real test for John Handley. A win for the Black Knights would likely vault them into the top 10.

Good luck to both teams, and go Black Knights!
