Here is the new thread. Just helps to keep it from cluttering to start a new one each month.
Martinsville 3-0 Franklin County: HUGE win for the Bulldogs. 6A wins are hard to find in the west.
Battle 4-3 Honaker: Not exactly an imposing result
Graham 8-0 Richlands: Looks like the G-men adapted well after the first narrow victory against this rival.
George Mason 8-0 Strasburg: No shock.

Dan River 7-1 Chatham: Dan River is solidly plugging along. I am curious if they are going to be able to square up against a full team of athletes. They seem to be one dimensional offensively.
Martinsville 0-2 Halifax: Is there a hangover from the FC win? Maybe, but a 5A loss doesn't really hurt this squad in points.

JR @ Glenvar. JR 2-0 midway

4-0 final, subs got good 2nd period minutes

Honestly that score line doesn't impress me. James River should have been much more dominant at this point in the season.
Floyd 4-4 GW: I think we may have been overrating the Buffalos a bit. Sure GW is a good squad, but they are mid-pack 1A. You aren't going to run with the wolves if all you can do is tie the puppies. They get a shot at the Maroons again on Tuesday.
Auburn 1-0 Radford: Not 2A but still worth noting. Auburn's new coach is smart and talented (also has an NAIA National Title ring), so I'm not as shocked by this as many others may be. But it is going to be an uphill walk for the bobcats. They can still get there, but they'd better put in some work.
Several games were postponed and moved for weather/wind.

I will also say I think the weather and some tired players got the best of Floyd last night. They beat Patrick County the night before 4-3

Trust me, It doesn't impress me either, just reporting the score. I don't think the defense was challenged much last night and the goalie had to do jumping jacks to keep warm. Glenvar had maybe 2 good shots at the goal last night? I havn't been impressed since the opening game against Alleghany, they looked really good in that game and have not played that way since. The game last night could have ended early had they played with some intensity and been a little more aggressive around the goal. Not to bash anyone but Glenvar does seem down from years past. JR had a lot of kicks in the direction of the goal, a lot went wild and a lot were not followed up. They need a wake up call if they plan on making a run anywhere, I know it's not midway yet but I agree w you they should be more dominant than they are. The best they have looked was in their scrimmage and their opening game, since then I havn't been impressed.

Yeah, I would almost say another loss may wake them up and be for the best, but points-wise they can't afford it. Floyd isn't bad along with Giles and Martinsville. They could end up in 4th. My personal hope is they nab the 1 or 2 spot, but they can afford to maybe take another loss to LB, but they had better win out from there. Did Flood play?

All but last 10-15 minutes? had 5-6 play whole game, the coach was subbing for subs. Made no sense to me, relatively easy win and he risking injury to key players imo.

Not much going on Friday.

Mason 5-0 Madison County.

Dan River, Chatham, Appomattox, and a few others were in action, but the scores are not reported to any source I use. If anyone finds them, please share the link.

There were a few games played last night. It was a certainly a beautiful night for it too.
Chatham 0-2 Tunstall: Does Tunstall play any school that isn't 1 or 2A? HAHA
Glenvar 1-5 Radford: Bobcats redeem themselves a bit after that embarrassment against Auburn.
Auburn 1-8 Floyd: Speaking of Auburn they got spanked last night. Let's just hope the buffaloes left something in the tank. They have George Wythe round 2 tonight.
Giles 5-0 Graham: Went to this one. Not the premier matchup I had hoped. Graham banked everything on trying to get out early, park the bus, and run one lame offsides trap. It did not work. Hoping for a much better game next time they meet. If not, I'm betting there won't be a third match like last season.
Marion 5-1 Grayson County: Shew! After some of the other Marion scores, Grayson is in for a long season.

I was at Floyd game last night. Coach started subbing 10 minutes in and the in second half never had the starters in at once. Maybe in preparation for George Wythe tonight.

The way things are now, some schools "play down" a lot. I liked the old days when most every game was against someone from own classification.

Yeah. And I think level or up tend to have better results postseason. I think things are looking up in that regard with the new districting next season. At least on this side of Roanoke.

Dan River 0-2 Appomatox: Game was played on the 7th, but I missed the result somewhere...definitely gonna change my top ten around a bit. River must be inconsistent as all get out. That conference is always a mixed bag.

Floyd 4-9 George Wythe: Made it to this one. Floyd is not a fit squad. They started strong, but could not keep pace with GW. 80% or George Wythe's starters run cross country and swim, so they are very fit (talent is lacking, but they are fit). I think Floyd is one solid player from being a complete team. They can still pull an odd upset, but they will not be the favorite over anyone in conference except Glenvar.
Graham 9-0 Narrows: Graham bounces back from a bad loss Monday to trounce the little sister of Giles County.
Magna Vista 3-2 Martinsville: I'm sure this was a tough and action-packed game, but the bulldogs better start getting some wins or they will find themselves deep down in points.

Some East scores:
Stuarts Draft 6- Wilson Memorial 0
Robert E Lee 9- Buffalo Gap 1
These two scores tell me that RE Lee and Stuarts Draft should be the favorites in Conference 36 barring any upsets.
Nandua 9- Chincoteague 0
Clarke County 8- Rappahannock County 0- Clarkes first win, they are now 1-4.
Warren County (3A) 3- Madison County 0
William Monroe (3A) 8- Strasburg 1
For Conference 35, looks like Mason and Central are the front runners for 2A playoffs (split district with 3A teams). But do not count out Clarke when playoff time rolls around.

Chatham 1-5 Nelson County: I think Nelson may very well be better than in years past. Not sure what that translates to exactly, but hoping to get out there next week.
Glenvar 1-0 Auburn: Not to sound too pompous, but this sounds like an extremely boring game. Auburn has a tough task in hosting Giles tonight.

Lots of other good matchups tonight out west. A lot of central and east schools had the full week off (lucky, jerks), so I'm sure they will be hitting it hard at the start of next week.

Giles 6-0 Auburn: Saw a parent posted that this was an ugly frustrating win for Giles. Auburn plays an interesting defensive style of soccer.
Floyd 0-4 Radford: Not a good result against a struggling Bobcat squad. Perhaps they are working out some kinks now.
Martinsville 2-7 George Washington: Sure this is to a 4A opponent, but Martinsville needs to win a game or two at some point.
Richlands 1-2 Radford: (From earlier in the week) This should put Radford at 3-3 on the season.
I just pulled these from the paper. I'm sure other games were played, but plan to enjoy the rest of my day off.

Union 1-5 Patrick Henry- Glade Spring. First result I've seen for this school, so I thought it was worth posting. Plenty of games being played around the state tonight, so we will get to that soon.

Tons of games last night.
George Mason 0-0 Monroe: I'm not sure which Monroe this was (a 3A one). Either way...Mason may have a tougher post season than in the past.
Giles 11-3 Floyd: This is an odd result. I know Floyd had a few quality players, but a team that allows only two goals to this point in the season should not give up three to such a weak opponent.
Bruton 4-0 New Kent: I found the score, but this is a bit beyond my geographic scope.
Martinsville 1-2 Patrick County: I has actually picked Mville for the win here. Yikes. They may be sitting way down at a three seed for conference before long.
Central 1-2 Battle:
Graham 17-0 Grundy: Poor kids from Grundy. Stat line looks like Graham subbed out a lot to stop the onslaught, but they just couldn't.
Maggie Walker 3-1 Deep Run: That is a quality 5A win. I don't know if Deep Run is a good squad, but you never look down on a 2A win over a 5A.
George Wythe (1A) 8-0 Grayson County: I think Grayson still has not recorded a win.
Nelson County 7-1 Bath County: Nelson is quietly putting up a lot of wins. Keep an eye on them to get out of conference.

Takes them a minute to get used to those European kids, doesn't it? I saw that at GW last week too. Floyd is just two players shy (center-back and keeper) from being a really solid team.

Yes and it took them a while to get going last night, finally picked it up in the 2nd. JR struggled on that field last year as well. Yea, with a couple more players Floyd would be a handful for a lot of teams.

Tab 4-0 Bruton: No idea who or what Tab is. just found the score.
George Mason: 3-0 Clarke County: Season is going almost like it was expected for GM.
Giles 4-1 Graham: This was a slug fest. Almost went to Martinsville v. Tunstall, but chose this one for proximity. Three yellows...could have been more. Constant pressure, tackles, and upended runs. My only complaint was that the Graham coach and the Giles fans had themselves an "asshole-off" from warmups on through. Try to be classy folks.
Martinsville 3-2 Tunstall: This one ended in overtime. Should have just sucked it up and drove over. That is Martinsville's second win of the season. Don't let that fool you though...they play a pretty tough schedule.

York 3-0 Bruton: I think this is 6A Yorktown, so I wouldn't think Bruton is on the downslope.
Mason 8-0 Warren Co.: This is a more traditional result.
Basset 1-0 Martinsville: I honestly picked Mville in this one. I had heard they finally got a new starting keeper as a layover from basketball, but that may not be the difference maker.

Central (Woodstock) 1- 1 William Monroe (3A, a quality team that should compete in 3A playoffs well). Leaves both teams only a game behind Mason. Should be some competitive games for the Bull Run District Championship and Conference 35 coming up in the next two weeks.
Strasburg 6- Clarke County 0 (Huge result for Strasburg, which is very well coached, talented, and finding their way this year). Maybe it is their year to break into the region?
Madison County 3- Rapp County 0.
BTW, the York that Bruton played in the above post was not 6A Yorktown (Arlington), but 3A (Conference 37) York, which has been a very good team that has been nationally ranked in the past few years. So not a terrible result for Bruton.
Should be some good Friday matches in the Bul Run and 2A East.

Thanks for clarifying on the York result. I dug around, but could only find "York". Sounds like the Bullrun is going to be the conference to watch...just a little too far away to get there.
The only score posted from last night of note is
Windsor 2-0 Brunswick Senior: This is a team quietly plugging along. They will probably have to crack the top ten at the end of the month.

Giles@JR

girls 8-0 JR

Boys Giles up 1-0 early

4-0 half 5-0 final Giles

Mason 4-1 Strasburg: Strasburg was coming off of a huge win. So now this result isn't the worst thing in the world either. They should have learned and found something to build on.
W&L 6-1 Fairfax

Last of games for the month.
Dan River 4-1 Nelson County: This was supposed to be a much tougher match up. I haven't ran any points yet, but I think Dan River and Appo will take this conference.
Giles 7-1 Radford: Wow! I don't think anyone expected this big of a margin for this game. Giles just game off a huge win over James River the night before. Now the fear is that if they win so easy regular season...what will happen when they meet a team who won't allow that?
Jamestown 8-0 Bruton: I know, I know. They are a good team, but I have trouble expecting too much from a team in June who got Mercy Ruled by anyone!
Gate City 3-0 John Battle: I only post because some one has to make region out of this conference.
Floyd 0-1 Auburn: Floyd is on their fifth straight loss. Not a good sign of the buffalo getting anything more than a play-in game to face Giles or Martinsville.
