The Bethel Bruins started the new year with the return to the lineup of Rivals.Com 4-star center Dajour Dickens and he made his presence felt in a 49-36 win over the Menchville Monarchs. Dickens finished with 10 rebounds and three blocks and dominated inside on the defensive floor.
Senior Kyle Foster continued his hot shooting on a frigid night scoring 16 points on four 3-pointers to lead the Bruins scoring. He made back-to-back treys to end the 1st quarter that gave the Bruins a lead they never relinquished. Dickens started the second quarter, his first minutes in a Bruins uniform since transferring from the Miller School, and he help the Bruins go on an 8-0 run. The Bruins led 26-13 at halftime.
Bethel maintained their double-digit lead until the 4th quarter when a 9-2 Monarch run trimmed the lead down to nine (42-33). Foster drove the lane for a layup then buried a 3-pointer with 1:25 to go give the Bruins a 47-33 lead which cleared the benches.
