FINAL: Robert E. Lee 62, Central-Woodstock 58. Jarvis Vaughan with a huge performance for the Leemen, who will play for their second straight state championship Friday night vs. Gate City in Richmond. It's the rematch everyone's wanted all year long

To much Vaughan. Every time Central tried to make it close, he answered. I don't think he gets enough credit for his defense. This kid can defend as well. The turning point was the offensive put back in the second quarter by Vaughan that just set things in motion for Lee. At that point, I knew Central was going to have a hard time making it close. I think he has a field day against Gate City and I think they will beat Gate City and repeat as state champions. Yep, I'm giving my pick right now and calling it right now (only my opinion) but I think RE Lee wins the state championship. Nobody can guard Mac, but you will see what some length can do to effect his shot, and I think Lee will defend him just well enough to win. Added to that, GC has no answer for Vaughan defensively in my opinion. RE LEE 64, Gate City 54. Yep, I think it's not a blowout by any means, but I don't think it's a nailbiter of a game. Lee wins by 8-11 points.

Lee opened up the third quarter with a 15-5 run to make the score 48-34. Important run because in the 4th with Lee holding a double digit lead they went into the 4 corners, and were awful. Five straight turnovers led to a 11-0 Central run. Lee held on down the stretch but barely.

Lee: Vaughan 25, Williams 12, Castle 6, Pettiford, Henderson, Velvin, and Elliston with 4 each.

Estep had big game for Central with 23 points.

Why in the world go 4 corners?

It seemed they had the momentum and were playing well at that time.

Plus Lee is not the best free throw shooting team at times this season.

Bottom line - I guess all that matters is that the won the game.
