Friday’s game at Brooke Point promised to be a scorcher and neither team nor the weatherman failed to deliver.
The Black-Hawks remained unbeaten (4–0) but it took a total team effort as the upstart Osbourn Eagles gave their hosts all they could handle before folding to Brooke Point’s continued onslaught in the second half for a memorable 76–34 blowout victory.
“[In the second half] we just stepped up, did our assignments,’’ reflected safety Derek Avery, who recorded three fumble recoveries and a blocked extra-point in the final two quarters, when the Black-Hawks enjoyed a 34–6 scoring advantage. “We followed our keys and made sure we were staying on our men when we were in pass coverage.’’
