I don't know why traditional sportsmanship wasn't expressed between the two teams. We all can speculate though. I wasn't there; I do know it ain't good not to shake a mans hand after a football game.
Yeah that is pretty bad. Game started getting pretty chippy there late in 4th maybe that was the reason for it. But win or lose you need to make that trip across the field to shake hands.
How many personal fouls did some classless members of your team have in the last minutes?Classless on his part
We have a game this week, we want all the players to play. Smart move by Coach Wells to keep his team from being suckered in to responding to classless play and potential cheap shots afterwards. Funny you want sportsmanship after the game but not during it ..............................What's that got to do with shaking hands ?
Nope, sir red devil, you read wrong and have reminded me of why I don't post on this site, but you vulchers have paid your money and you can say what you wanna say - "boss said it was ok." i for sure didn't say anything about anybody having class. I said that bburg vs HHS would be a "classic" football game. Most of y'all are clueless boo birds, who love poisoning the minds of young men who play the game and who read this stuff on the daily. Same posters that post think they could do better with the responsibility of coaching a team. Passing judgment on stuff they have no clue about. Heritage is not my team, but Bradley is a great coach and with real recognizing real, I will say he runs a classy program. Whip his a$$ and he will at least come across the field and shake hands. Rustburg is also not my team but is excellently coached despite those who doubt them on this board. Jack baker is another modern day John Wayne. for the most part the rest of the old Seminole is well coached, one of the best districts in the state. I do recognize when teams disrespect the game. Back to my original point, love to Marshall Schmitt, RIP coach whorley, and you let em chase rabbits and eat $h1+ they will. Never again will I attempt to match whits with nit whits. Waste of time and money.
Amen, That guy is a legend. I rarely ever post, but I have to post when a name like Marshall Schmitt shows up. I will gladly enlighten. Most of you all don't know him; if you do you know him, you know that he is one of the best Men you've ever been around. He has retired from coaching. He coached at every level in his 30+ years in the business. Was an HC at the youth level, an HC at the Middle School level, A Defensive Coordinator of a State Championship Caliber team at BHS in 2008, and was on staff in 2011 and 2012 during the 28-0 run. He was named HC at BHS as soon as Woody left. He held it together. One thing he has always done - commanded respect. Using his own hunting terms, he never let his players "chase rabbits." His teams were disciplined, they left their feet to make plays the entire game, they won and loss with class, and they loved the game. I played for him, and I love him. He taught me everything I know about fundamental football. Spend 20 minutes or less with the man and you will realize he is a modern day John Wayne. Seems like they are busy lettin em "chase rabbits" at BHS these days which is a far cry from the very disciplined days of yesteryear; by yesteryear I mean the days of Mr. Whorley who was the HC in the early 70s when Marshall Schmitt was a player for the Bees. Mr. Whorley never let em chase rabbits; Coach Schmitt wouldn't allow it either. 2 post game altercations in the last 3 games, and how many personal foul penalties? That's not the BHS I know. As always though, I'm sure it's not their fault...Makes my heart hurt.
Well said RenMan - I would suspect that you and I know each other somewhere down the line. What you say about Marshall is spot on. I have the same admiration for "nuna" as you, but I don't think I would have been able to write those thoughts as well as you. Marshall is exactly as you say, "modern day John Wayne". Probably the coolest guy I have ever known, and I have have known Marshall since I was around 11 or 12. I am 50 now. Still stop by and see him when I can. One of the best, if not the best, defensive mind ever in the Seminole District. Again, great post RenMan.
Haha - no, I haven't had those conversations. I will have to be enlightened sometime. I will try to respond to your message to me, but haven't figured out how yet. I am kind of cut from the same cloth as "Nuna", don't know much about technology. lol take careNo doubt we have crossed paths. Sure we will cross paths again sometime. I gotta go by and see coach nuna. Do you know about "electrical lights" and "salamis?"
I have been playing against or officiating Brookville athletics since 1967. It pretty easy to answer your question about not shaking hands. My granddaughter played on two the two softball championship teams also. Why didn't the teams shake hands?

The officials should of never let it get that far out of hand. To continue to throw flags got them no where. They lost control of the game. They should of sent the violators to the locker room long before they did. And 10 -1, please don't say both, it was one team. If you want sportsmanship after the game practice it during the game. The Teams in the Blacksburg vs Brookville Game did not shake hands because both teams had Personal Foul Calls on them the Bees had 3 in the First Half and 7 in the 2nd Half. Blacksburg Had 1 believe in the game.
