A sold-out high-energy crowd in South Hill was beginning to celebrate. Park View had not beaten rival Brunswick in eight+ years. The crowd was pumped when freshman sensation Kaldon Johnson broke the Virginia scoring record for a freshman - a record that has stood since the 50's (he probably scored 25-30 in this game - he is the real deal). And Park View led Brunswick by ten at the end of the third quarter 36-26. Some were heading for the door.

However, never count out the Bulldogs. Brunswick quickly erased the lead and scored 32 points in the final quarter while holding Johnson and PV to ten. Brunswick wins 58-46. Incredible!

The two play again Monday night in Lawrenceville. Brunswick (13-1, 14-4) must win to keep pace with Greensville (15-1, 19-3) for the Tri-Rivers regular season crown (including a trip to Surry on Wednesday night). If Brunswick wins both games, Brunswick and Greensville will have a one-game playoff on Friday night at a neutral site TBD.

Exciting times for Southside basketball.

That was a good assessment...it was fair and I appreciate it but it is incomplete. The crowd was high energy as there were two incredible games before this one. This one was too. But there was no one leaving in the fourth quarter. Dragon fans know its hard to close out the Bulldogs. Keldon got hurt in the fourth quarter...was down on the floor...left the game...came back and wasn't himself and it changed the outcome. You guys haven't heard the last of Park View...you are right...the future is bright!
