Buckingham @ Richlands

I'll 2nd or 3rd or whatever number I am the respect for your players and team as a whole ! That's fantastic to do that well with that many varsity players !
I also want to wish your team and fans a big welcome to Richlands and Ernie hicks stadium ! I hope all of you have a safe trip out here on friday !!

DP - back in '85, Grundy hired a new head coach out of WV. His first road game was a district loss at Richlands. His name - John Curia.

I'm looking forward to the trip as well. Haven't been posting as much lately as I have in years past. I think its more due to the fact that I discovered the world of twitter. Lots of valuable information out there. @tch_athletics if anyone wants to follow btw. Good luck to both squads and we'll see you Friday.

Nobody is forcing them to transfer. If they're truly transferring for academics, it shouldn't matter to them. School 1st sports 2nd.

So because they want to improve academically and believe a school will give them a better education they should be banned from sports? 1. Kids have whatever high school experience they can because it only happens once > (that means greater than) your non thought out biased opinion

I know your hopes Ryan, but man we have had some good Saturday games over the last ten years.
2005 Liberty Bedford, will never forget Stanton td.
2007 Brookville and Logan Thomas and that tall receiver somebody stood on his head.
2006 at Hidden Valley and that Wicked hit.
We been blessed with some good memories.

Can't forget that 2010 game with Brookville, who would have ever thought.

My cousins starred on that 2005 Liberty team, year after I graduated. That was a classic football game. I didn't attend but watched the film afterward multiple times. You guys hit us in the mouth and we were caught off guard early by your ability to pass. Those two lanky WRs that year were both very talented, QB McCracken I think was his name, he was the truth. Caleb Jennings, the RB was who our coaches were most concerned with, ended up being the pass game that won it for Richlands that year. Was shocked at how TA handled you guys the following week for all the marbles.

Saw my alma mater mentioned, thought I'd throw in my two cents. Haven't seen any 2A teams live this year but watched plenty of highlights and saw Buckingham and Appo last season as well as state title game between Wilson/Glenvar. If I was to bet money, I'm going with an all West Final. Winner of Richlands/Appo vs Giles/Glenvar/Union survivor. Buckingham has some talented kids but their lack of depth is going to hurt them vs Richlands IMO. BC will be a good primer for the type of speed Appo will bring the following week. Good Luck to Richlands & Buckingham this week.

Good point. Some of life's greatest lessons are often learned while participating in sports.

I've got to question the motivation of someone wanting to rob others of some of life's greatest experiences.

Exactly! Why cant we all just talk about the football game.

Some of these boys have been working on these games they are playing right now since they were four and five years old. This has been there dreams for years now. Two very well deserving teams are about to play a Playoff football game that can propel them one step closer to the ultimate prize in High School Football.

I cant wait to see the Qb and Ragland play football. I'm very anxious to see if we can stop them enough to win or see if John Luke Asbury and his collection of weapons will prove to be to much for Buckingham. There will be match up problems for both teams and I am excited to see which Coach can adjust and exploit the others weaknesses. Should be a great game and may the best team win.

Wishing Richlands luck from the Pirates of Belfry, KY!

Told you all after the scrimmage you had a lot to look forward to with that team and the weapons on Offense.

FWIW, Belfry is currently 11-1 and still playing. Only loss was to the #1 overall team in WV Cabell Midland... Belfry beat 5 teams who are still playing football including blowout wins over Knoxville Catholic TN and Johnson Central, KY. JC was the #1 4A team in Kentucky and Belfry beat them 41-0.

Still predict big things for the Blues! Go get a title!

That has nothing do with a transfer for academics.
I honestly don't care if it does or not. You mad a blanket statement that ANY kid who transfers for academics shouldn't be allowed to play sports. When you make a blanket statement like that, there are things like what I pointed out that are unintended consequences. Think before you speak, man.

I had two cousins whose coaches wouldn't play them in softball or basketball. Transferred to a county rival, and earned college scholarships.

Sometimes transferring is what you need to do

Thanks EKU ! Glad to see you guys are still in the hunt, but to be honest.......I'm not surprised ! Great athletes and great coaching for your guys, that's why you are multiple time state champs !
Good luck in your next game and hope you guys win another state !
Hopefully we'll see you guys again next Aug. !

Couldn't fight off the urge to post this hit: http://www.hudl.com/team/33598/highlights/105629824

I hope not to see a repeat this Friday night.
I remember this play so well and saying NO WAY TREY stays in the game after that hit? He did and done well for rest of game. I dont know why #54 didnt pick him up, but I feel the one that took the blame the most was the qb for giving it to him. Bad read by qb. I havent seen him do that again all season. Remind you this was first game of the season (bucktown vs. appo always plays in game 1).

LMBO, Hilarious! I have only been on here for a few months and I know that first 2 are correct. Never heard 3rd one until now. LOL

FYI, I bet Giles wont say NOTHING about the way refs basically gave them the game vs. Appomattox 2 years ago. I seen it live and on film. I can say this honestly. IT WAS THE WORST REFFED GAME OF ALL MY YEARS OF WATCHING HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL!!! So refs owed them one game to be on the opposite side of the stick. With all the poor reffing in that game, it still came down to a last second 35 yard FG.
Your a joke, u still have not got over that loss.

Lorddddd talk about YAC. Those receivers are putting in work

Were any of these players (QB,WR) playing in the Wilson game last year?

Hey Trevor, how about telling us a little bit of the Knights strengths and weaknesses ( if there are any....lol. They are 10-1 so just curious about what your keys to this one is.

Thanks

I would if I could but I don't know anything really about Buckinghams varsity squad. All I can tell you is if you can stop Ragland you will easily win the game. That's the key to Buckingham. And by their record you see no one has really been successful doing it.

I guess the "transfer debate" comes up every year because kids graduate, their parents stop posting and someone new starts reinventing the wheel.

Folks; People relocate, moms and dads take new jobs, families separate, etc. And yes, I am sure one or two kids move to a school district to play a sport or take German or get into robotics or because a particular school has an usually large pool of attractive cheerleaders or whatever.

So what? Play the game and stop making excuses before the whistle even blows. The team who scores the most points will win.

Its more to us than stopping Ragland. He is just the icing on the cake. We have other weapons that's keeping teams from just keying on Ragland and the ones that came in with that game plan to just stop Ragland has paid for it. I will say keeping him from the 70,80,90 yrd home runs will help your chances against him.

Looking forward to the challenge, any team that is still playing this time of the year is more than a 1 trick pony and are very good football teams ! It should be a great night of football with a great atmosphere, I hope you and the rest of your fans that are able to make the trip down to Ernie have a safe trip and enjoy the game........just maybe not too much enjoyment.....lol !
Hope both teams come out of it healthy !

One thing about it, you can be sure that Buckingham has our team, players, coaches and fans full attention ! I can assure you that no one from here are thinking that this will be an easy game or a blowout ( by either team ). You may see or hear someone else state something like that, but not from us ! We are confident in what our team is capable of and how good they are, but, we have learned over the years to not take any team lightly, in the playoffs and especially from the 2nd round on. Like the old coaches speak.......one game at a time and RESPECT your opponent !

This matchup is one of the many reasons we love high school football gonna be a he'll of a game but as Much as I want buckingham to win you gotta give the edge to richlands but if Buckingham wins they are deffw winning the championship
