Charlottesville (9-3, 4-1 district) is set to tip off Friday night in Crozet, to face Western Albemarle (8-3, 4-1). The Black Knight's are coming off of a tough 64-50 win over Fluvanna on Tuesday, while Western handled Louisa County 66-33 at home the same night. Chris McGahren, the starting shooting guard for the Warriors, is out for the game due to a facial injury. The Black Knights are led by senior guard Jaylen Hudson (18ppg) and senior forward Khalil Vest (16ppg). The Warriors are led by point guard Ryan Ingram, an all state selection last year, and 6-8 forward Austin Cress. Charlottesville is only allowing 49 ppg, so Western's usually explosive offense will be tested against the trademark, hard-nosed defense from the Black Knights.

I think Western is a lot better than last year even without McGahren because of injury. They're not the quickest of teams but they're length makes up for it, defensively they are tough. They should handle Charlottesville.

Western won 57-51. Charlottesville didn't give up the lead until late in the fourth. Western then pulled ahead, but then Sam Neale hit a 3 to put Cville up by 1 with a minute. Ingram then attacked the basket and scored, then Cress had a fast break dunk to take the lead by 3 and Western hit FTs down the stretch.
