Eh, I don't think VT has football players running track more or less than anyone else but you don't really hear about kids getting turned down in that scenario regardless. But yes, he said the ability to run track at VT affected his decision. Still think VT would have won out regardless but Tech's like a top 5 program nationally, it will do him a world of good in case football doesn't work out or if he just chooses track regardless.
