For those who know me, you all know how passionate I feel about sports. My relationship with you all (fans), coaches, and student-athletes. I work for a newspaper now and I think this story is a sad story and I thought I would share it.

Charles City County High School may be the first (or one of the first) schools in Virginia without an athletic program.

In an abbreviated version of the story, Charles City County is in a lawsuit with Waste Management of Virginia. Because of this, the county is $900,000 short of revenue projects. Of that amount, schools are being asked to cut $436,000. Understand, this is for THIS YEAR'S budget, not next year.

Among the top of the list are athletics. Track repairs that were asked for last year will not be made, and it is all but 99.9% sure there will be no track season. It's unsure if any spring sports will be held. Among other cuts are the JROTC program and according to my sources close to the situation, there may be as many as 10 teaching positions eliminated.

All I ask for you all is to pray for this situation. These student-athletes are the victims of what is occurring with the county.
