Cavaliers third in opener
BLUEFIELD -- Carroll County finished in the middle of a five-team Southwest District golf match Friday, behind Richlands and Tazewell but comfortably in front of Graham and Grundy.
Carroll County finished with a four-person total of 371, well off the pace set by team winner Richlands (320) and runner-up Tazewell (323). Graham was a distant fourth with a 406 and Grundy brought up the rear with a 475.
Marshall Wade's 85 paced the Cavaliers, who got 94s from Chris Patton and Jason Bachara and a 98 from Cristie Edwards.
Tazewell's Garland Green won individual honors with his even-par 70, two strokes ahead of Connor McCall of Richlands.
