Very honest preview about Saturday's game @ Oscar Smith. The Braves have come close but it's been a couple decades since they've beaten the Tigers. Both teams have had transfers between each other.

Lately , I. River has had about 6-7 transfers including Dominique Brooks who was part of O. Smith's tandem QB pair last year. He actually admitted in a local paper that he moved just to make sure he got more playing time as a senior!

I expect this game to be more like the Highland Springs vs Hermitage games over the years (except this year). The team with the ball last should have a chance to win!!!

I expect a Tiger's win just because they have the experience of playing in really tough games. 24-21

I wish I could make this game, I'm sure the atmosphere and game will be crazy. IR is my sleeper pick to be playing in December.

Is this game going to be on the web or radio?

Will I need a ticket early? or if I get there about 11a will I be ok?

I suggest getting there by 11:00 parking is very tight due to trailer classrooms that are still in place. Unfortunately, they haven't removed them yet as the most recent addition hasn't been occupied.

You can buy tickets @ www.gofan.co just search Oscar Smith. The ladies at the South Entrance know how to process the ticket on your phone. The South ticket line is always much shorter if you buy them once you arrive.

They have Duck Donuts, a Pollard's Chicken truck and Chick-fil-A inside. Probably the best restaurant for after game eats is going to be Mission BBQ. it's about 5 miles up North on Battlefield Blvd. It's very close to where you'll get onto I-64 to head home.

From the truck, they only sell chicken strip & fries or chicken livers & fries. But their chicken strips with Buffalo sauce IS over the TOP.

It's also hard to beat a Maple frosted with bacon, Duck Donuts.

Indian River handed to us today. It was clear pretty early that their strategy was to take out the top play makers for Smith & with that they were really successful. They knocked out of the game:

#22 Starting RB, #6 Starting LB backup RB (vicious face mask) #8 Starting QB (Kelly came back but didn't play defense after midway through the 2 ND quarter)

#2 didn't play but should be back in time for play off time.

So, half of the DB/LB were knocked out the game & Smith played with heart.

It seemed like the difference was that the IR QB avoided mistakes that he'd made last YEAR. AND, with key defense players out of the game, IR made the big scores they needed to win.

Score 28-16

Indian River's OL/DL were studs. The QB for Indian River had time all day to do what he wanted, and to be honest he looked more poised, calculated and polished then both Oscar Smith QB's.

If HSHS and Indian River do matchup, both sides of the line can play with the Springer's no doubt...

Dominique Brooks had games like that last year. But, Kelly took over & won a couple of games, too. Brooks turned over the ball 4 times vs Westfield. Brooks was able to allude the several possible sack & with Kelly hobbled, he just couldn't. I think the OL/DL was pretty close & difference being that I. River took advantage of their opportunities.

Smith will be OK as long as they can get healthy.
I just don't see the kid Kelly as a QB, Brooks may have had a bad game but it was to the eventual 3 time state champ, I was thinking about how much more productive the offense would be if Kelly was able to get the ball in his hands in open space verses trying to roll out and make something happen.
