Derrick Harris scored a 48-yard touchdown on Lafayette's first play from scrimmage and the Rams continued their post season dominance with a 49-8 blowout over the Petersburg Crimsom Wave. It was the third straight playoff win over a Central Region school for the undefeated Rams who improved to 13-0 under Head Coach Andy Linn. Quarterback Brendan McGinity accounted for four touchdown.

The Rams defense gave the offensive unit great field position all afternoon while forcing two 1st quarter turnovers. Petersburg did not get a first down until midway thru the 2nd quarter.

Matt Hummel and Liam Walters combined for a big hit forcing a fumble that was recovered by D'Andre Thompson at midfield to setup the Harris end run for a score. Mcginity added an interception on the Crimson Wave's next possession.

McGginity had two rushing touchdowns in the 1st half to help Lafayette to a 19-0 halftime lead. Junior John Douglass set the first McGinity touchdown with a 31-yard run to the Petersburg 16-yard line. McGinity used a great push by the middle of offensive line (Ian McManus, Mitch Barrick, and Coleman Goad) to walk-in for a 6-yard run to give the Rams a 13-0 lead.

On the next drive, McGinity connected with Brandon Villanueva for 36 yards and a 16-yard run by Douglass setup a 1st-and-goal for Lafayette at the two yard line. McGinity powered in from two yards to extend the lead to 19-0.

Lafayette put the game away with two quick scores after the halftime break. They took the second half kickoff and drove 68-yards in six plays with McGinity scoring his third rushing touchdown. The big play was a 26-yard run by Douglass who refused to go down. Douglass finished with 100 yards rushing. Minutes later, Kyle Johnson scooted around the left end for a 37-yard touchdown run. The 2-point conversion made the score 35-0 starting the running clock.

McGinity threw deep to Villanueva who made a great two-handed grab between two defenders for a 79-yard touchdown reception. The senior quarterback completed 3 of 4 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown with all three completions going to Villanueva. Joey Kraegenbrink ended the scoring with a 40 yard run with under two minutes to play.

Petersburg scored their only touchdown with 6:22 remaining in the game on a 28-yard run by Daquan Smith. The Crimson Wave drove 65 yards in six plays with Smith gaining 45 yards on the drive.

As you can verify Lafayette is actually getting better each game on both sides of the ball. This Lafayette team is better than the one you guys played in early October. Perfect timing to peak!

Made it to the game too. Visiting family and saw a defense bottle up that QB all day long.

Congrats to Lafayette. Mr. Lafayette sorry I couldn't make it. On call this weekend and unfortunately was quite busy. Looks like your men executed really. Good luck going forward.
