Northumberland is up 32-0 with 3 min left in 1st half.

NHS has had 7 TDS called back!!!! Like 6 or more kids have scored, some did not count. 1st game in a long time :). Get it together boys.

35-0 at the half. Yes like 150 yards in penalties- most were good calls. Hey gotta work out the kinks- went a week or so with no practice with storms etc.

Coaches will clean it up before Neck play.

Final - Northumberland 61 Middlesex 0. About 8 different kids scored TDs (some were called back).

I will just say this - Northumberland QB Mason Adams is the real deal. He was freaking bad a-- in his very 1st game as an Indian. Several TD passes (most long and dropped on a dime). Some were called back due to some penalty away from the ball. Another receiver besides Palmer had like 3 TDs (some were brought back). He also had several good runs.

Several Indians running the ball as well. D was on point.

Many players contributed to the win tonight. Congrats.

Crowd size at Northumberland was great! (so was the August Surry game). Nice gate! These are even non district games. This is my 4th year pulling for the Indians and the crowds are growing for sure and getting louder.

The next home game will be against Essex - if the weather is good - it could be a banner crowd as the fans are feeling it...at last.

Very impressive opening for the Indians - the team arrives coming down a hill in unison chanting songs - then charges onto field through student fans, the NHS band jamming Indian war songs, cheerleaders, dancers, and flags galore... well done to the planners. I have a feeling it will get even bigger....

Couple takeaways from the game last night. On defense northumberland boys just wanted to hit somebody and, it showed with some of the penalties. I'm pretty sure Middlesex moved the ball more with penalties then rushing and passing.
Two delvin Palmer has some competition for most entertaining to watch in Mason Adams. I don't think he had a bad pass all night and the kid has some moves, juked a couple of players out of their cleats. On special teams Harry Lee was on point nailed a 36 yrd field goal with ease only missed one extra point which he nailed but was for some reason called no good on the snap. Most entertaining play of the night in my opinion was on a free kick after a safety. All the Northumberland players on the return huddled together handed the ball to their guard/linebacker Caleb Davis who to toke it 85 yrds to the house but, was called back for a block in the back.

Well said. Plus, I am hoping that NHS Harry Lee gets a chance to try to kick a 50 yard field goal in a game.

I've heard from a couple of players he can. I'm sure thats from a tee or with no pressure of a defense. But would love to see. I was looking at the vhsl record book and his 40+ kick last year would have put him third in the book. I don't know how up to date the kicking records are kept.

MIDDLESEX ?

Ahhh....yes, Middlesex. NHS and Middlesex have played each other for decades in most sports. In the last 4 years -

Last year, NHS won in the 4th Q 33-22 over a playoff bound Middlesex.

The year before was a NHS 3 point win (almost lost at the end).

The year before Northumberland lost 40-0 to Middlesex and so on.

I'll take a 61-0 win this year (with 7 TDs called back). Middlesex is down this year, we are way up and we play whoever is on the schedule - and ain't afraid of nobody on it....:)

Northumberland will beat Christ Church by at least 3 TDS. Seen Christ Church play Indians are just to fast for them this year. Essex is up in the air Indians tend to get psyched out by Essex but I expect a great game in heathsville in 2 weeks.

Middlesex Chargers moved the ball against Northumberland so Christchurch RB #5 will have 150+ yards & couple touchdowns. Christchurch wins by 10 points or more.

Middlesex moved the ball because of penalties lol. I'm pretty sure Middlesex had no more than 20 yrds in the first half. Then in the second half they started getting yrds because northumberland had their second and third string in. Like I said earlier I don't have the official stats bit I'm pretty sure Middlesex had more yrds from northumberland penalties than they did total offensive yrds.

Middlesex actually scored against W&L and held W&L to less points and I believe Wizard97 got the Indians losing to W&L

Yes I believe who ever has the ball last will win. W&L 49 Northumberland 42

wow - it's fascinating how we can watch the same teams and have such different perspectives.

I hope that W&L does well this season - some great people over there.

However, I have seen W&L. Unless they had a ton of injuries v Rapp, Northumberland may crush the Eagles at home.

You are definitely correct about how the Indians have a mental block when it comes to Essex. However, the culture has slowly been changing and the kids are starting to believe. These boys have been winning games for a couple years so we shall see how they respond

If the coaching staff can correct all those Indian penalties and mistakes in the last game (it was like a field of yellow out there lol), which I am sure that they will, it should be a good one!

Coach Lewis also wisely has brought in some great Essex people (former players) to bring that swagger to Northumberland Football.
