Martinsburg (WV) leads Huntingon 42-14 at the half, in the WVA state title game. Last night in Charlotte in the West regional finals, Chambers beat Hough 35-21. Chambers will now meet Cardinal Gibbons (Raleigh) at NC State, next Saturday.
Man, how did I overlook that one?Dutch Fork, riding a 62-game unbeaten streak, will take on unbeaten Gaffney, in Columbia, for the SC 5A state title, today at 5 p.m.
What publics outside of OS in VA, WV, DC, or MD are finishing above Hough or JC?Martinsburg MIGHT finish 3rd or 4th in I-Mech 4A.

Point being there’s really nobody this side of the elite DC privates and St Francis in Baltimore in this entire region that is going to be a favorite to finish above 3rd there. Kind of absurd to use that bar as a slight to Martinsburg.I think Smith would be close. Chambers is ranked higher and Massey gives them a FG edge head-to-head. This Chambers team isn't as dominant as the last two imo. I'm sure Smith has had stronger years as well.
I'm not as familiar with the public schools in DC/Maryland. I'm sure there's some. Martinsburg, I'm basing that off the two games I saw this year against Salem and Highland Springs.

You can go to YouTube and watch all of Martinsburg's games. I've been watching them for 10+ yrs.Not a slight at all. Martinsburg has on average probably 500-600 fewer students than most of those schools. They're punching above their weight class. It's more so the difference in competition even outside the I-Mech. Remember there's schools that size playing up in 4A. Dudley is 3A about the same size. That's probably a TD game. As another poster alluded to - I don't think they see that in WV. But I could be wrong. Again I've only seen them twice.
I used to live up in that area (Hagerstown, Maryland) so I saw Martinsburg quite a bit. The problem up there, is the lack of good competition in that whole state. Maryland is dominated pretty much by the privates. From Virginia, I agree, apart from Oscar Smith, which Massey gave two losses (Chambers and Hough head to head), there's pretty much not anyone who'd probably finish above third. Same for Stone Bridge, Highland Springs and Maury. My thought is, Chambers' conference isn't that much tougher, top to bottom, it's top-heavy this season with Hough and Chambers. The schools I mentioned would fare well, in the conference, apart from Hough and Chambers. It'd be the same result with Cardinal Gibbons out of Raleigh. Not a slight at all. This was without #2 playing. He was the reason they beat Highland Springs with the 3 long runsMartinsburg (WV) leads Huntingon 42-14 at the half, in the WVA state title game.
