Parry McCluer Senior Thrower Josh Fischer continues to build on his success in the Men's Shot-Put Event as he earned the #1 spot in the Blacksburg Polar Bear Meet held at Blacksburg High School on Saturday, Jan. 27th..
Even though it was a COOL 40 degrees, with a 20 mph wind hitting the throwers right in the face at the beginning of the competition, Fischer started out good and finished even better with a final heave of the 12 lb. shot @ 52' 10" (just a tick off his "PR") coming on his final throw of the day. GREAT JOB!!
Next up is the Region "C" Championships scheduled for Feb. 10th at Heritage HS. Fischer says he's looking to continue building on several strong Indoor performances. The 6' 5", 265 lb. Sr. thrower says, "I just have to stay focused, I have to continue to look ahead and keep working hard(er), practicing hard(er) and lifting hard(er)". Fischer says he has "some personal incentive, an inner source of motivation" you might say and says he has his sights set a new "PR" in the near future and says he hopes to head into the Outdoor season stronger than ever..
Congratulations "BIG GUY"... And as always, GO BLUES!!!
