The regular season has now come to an end and next its "The Sweet Sixteen" which won't be that sweet for some. We will discuss why that is on Thursday but before we jump into the exciting playoff games, let's look back at some of the action that took place.

The Surry County Cougars awoke from a few cat naps to celebrate ia long awaited victory in Sussex.

SURRY COUNTY 30 SUSSEX CENTRAL 24
The Surry County Cougars refused to lose as they answered immediately as Akeem Briggs came up big on catches to pull off their first win in Sussex in nearly 15 years. With the game slipping away and momentum gone in favor of the Tigers Timothy Marsh Jr. remained cool under pressure and delivered key pass to Briggs. On the defensive side Steve Smallwood Jr. help prevent a game tying and possible defeat with solid pass defense. Surry can host for at least the first two rounds as they open with the Franklin Broncos to open up the playoffs.

COLONIAL BEACH 30 WASHINGTON & LEE 7
Colonial Beach is the hottest team going in the playoffs and they are even more confident winning easily over rival Washington & Lee without the star that many folks said carried them. The Eagles jumped out early but Coach Scott Foster and his staff got their defense to put the clamps down and executed enough in the second to put the game away. Colonial Beach opens with Lancaster while Washington & Lee will face an excited Charles City squad.

CHARLES CITY 39 WEST POINT 27
The Panthers stepped up at the right time rushing over West Point to capture the victory. Charles City's predominantly young squad was able to run for big yards . Jaquane Wyatt rushed for 5 touchdowns and showed that Charles City has the toughness to run hard going forward. West Point fell behind early and could not get back in it. They will travel to Altavista for their playoff opener.

KING WILLIAM 77 KING & QUEEN 0
King William continues to put up the big numbers. Will it continue in the playoffs? Strasburg awaits on the coldest day this season but the speed of King William should be the difference. King & Queen could not slow down the Cavaliers as Camajae Peatross and Jacob Jones conducted business as usual. Coach Dylan DeHart's squad led 50-0 at halftime and never looked back.

Can Coach Todd Jones regroup his Eagles before the playoffs and a possible second round running class with Parry McCluer?[/B]

EXTRA POINT
The Thursday edition of the Region A Outlook will give a playoff preview of the Region A teams games and the likelihood of victory. Can the Trojans get back to Salem or will there be a surprise along the way? Is there anyone good enough to derail the A-team?
