Strasburg has scored 243 points and only allowed 78 points this year. Not bad for a team that a lot of people thought was going to struggle without senior leadership this year.

Last night's game. Strasburg could have named their score. The first drive of the game was the only one that was longer than 40 yards. Starters out by end of 1st quarter.

On a side note Ace Mitchell for page is a competitor. He never gave up. But my lord if i was him I would be crushing my o-line. He never really had time to even hand the ball off.

I've watched Strasburg on NFHS and they look very good to me. The only question mark is opponents who have a combined record of 11 wins and 28 losses.
Agree but unfortunately can only play the teams that will play you in OOD. Coach Lamb is trying to beef up the OOD schedule. One thing for Strasburg is that on both sides of the Los they have some talent and size. Running game and defense play well in colder weather. 2 weeks will be a physical game when they go to Clarke

Strasburg is liked heavily by the computers, both Calpreps and Massey and is their favorite in Region B over Clarke, Central, Buckingham, Riverheads FD. When I watched Strasbirg earlier, they looked to me better than Buckingham and Union and slightly ahead of Poquoson. Second best team in the state I've seen. I don't think Central has enough in the tank this year. Staunton is OK and FD is good and Draft is good, but I think it's Clarke, Riverheads, Buckingham, and Strasburg neck and neck as the 4 best teams.

First, Staunton is a 3A. Second, didn't calpreps have Ridgeview beating Union by 10? lol. Third, this is wide open right now, maybe Strasburg, Glenvar, Graham, Union, or any of these Region B teams. Clarke - Central Monday should be a very good game and home field may be the difference. 2A may be the best top 12 teams top to bottom than any other division.

Calpreps did have Ridgview by 10. There are also the other 5000 games they picked. Easy to use the "select the outlier" fallacy and run with it. It's old though.

I agree, Class 2 is wide open.

Hey, if you gonna say calpreps this and calpreps that.............then it doesn't suit you it's a fallacy? I think we know who is fantasy land. Just be authentic, this is Virginia not California and yes very wide open!

Nope, never at any moment had I said "calpreps this and calpreps that." Those are your words. I've stated what Calpreps predicts. Now it's obviously you don't like Calpreps and that's cool, but it's just a predictor of scores and in fun. Because a person posts Calpreps picks doesn't mean they agree with Calpreps or thinks Calpreps is Supreme. Calpreps is fun and mostly accurate, but misses like anyone else.

Broadway is not good... Esp for being 3A
Broadway biggest issue is the coach does not know how to use the talent he has. With the speed and talent they have on offense. They should be scoring a lot more. When I watched them against us . They tried running straight ahead in to our strength. Use your speed and get to the edge. Penalties are also a big issue for Broadway.

Clarke should win by 20 plus. Central does not have the line play like in years past. Unless they got 100% better within a week. Take KW penalties away they probably had 400 yards of offense against Central

Everyone is doubting Central tonight...I agree Clarke is favored and they very well could win comfortably....but Central has won I think five of the last six, are at home, and are battling for their playoff hopes every game now. They beat King William by 9...Clarke beat them by 8 and Strasburg beat them by 11. Each game was different but it's not like any of these teams have had wildly different results. Just would not be shocked if Central wins tonight.

On the other hand lots of craziness happening in Woodstock the last week so who knows how that will affect the kids. Good luck to both teams.

If KW did not self implode with all penalty yards on crucial plays and situations they beat Central. I am hoping for a good game since I am going and it is going to be windy down in that bowl

Updated with the Clarke Central game
Clarke 27 Central 12 final. I watched this game and Central shot themselves with the touched ball on a Clarke punt after a big stop which led to a 13-0 lead for Clarke. Also the pick 6. Didn't know Central went to more of a spread offense. I thought they had better success in the traditional I form. Clarke is tough they block very well, big with good speed. Tough to stop once they get downhill. All in all I didn't think they were way better than Central, I think Central is not sure about their identity. You can tell they are not used to running a spread offense. Just my opinion. Good game from both though.

When Central played KW they had more success with running the qb out of the spread set. They didn't do very much when they were in the I.

I was off on 3 numbers from VHSL. I counted wrong on Clarke. But apparently there has been a game that was originally rescheduled for weather (Amelia vs Nottoway) that has now changed to a forfeit for Nottoway. So I put those in parentheses

1. Strasburg 24.33
2. Clarke 23.33
3. Riverheads 23.14
4. Buckingham 21.67 (20.00)
5. Fort 20.14
6. Stuarts Draft 19.86
7. Madison 17.33
8. Page 14.83
9. Central 13.50
10. Luray 13.00
11. Stonewall 12.50

Out of curiosity I looked at the teams played so far and record. Not that most teams can control that at all because some teams have trouble scheduling and frankly some teams get avoided if they are on the better side of things. Either way I thought it was interesting on some levels to dig a bit just to see.

1. Strasburg 24.33 6-0 OP W-L 15-24 One team above .500 and one at .500 with the rest below .500
2. Clarke 23.33 6-0 OP W-L 12-27 One team above .500 and the rest below .500
3. Riverheads 23.14 6-1 OP W-L 22-24 Four teams above .500 and one at .500 with two below .500
4. Buckingham 21.67 (20.00) 6-0 OP W-L 11-27 No team above .500 and three at .500 with one winless team
5. Fort 20.14 4-3 OP W-L 31-16 Six teams above .500 and one winless team
6. Stuarts Draft 19.86 5-2 OP W-L 21-26 Four teams above .500 and three under .500

Glenvar 21.67 6-0 OP W-L 9-29 One team above .500 with 3 winless teams
Graham 23.00 6-0 OP W-L 15-21 Two teams above .500 and one at .500 with two winless teams
Poquoson 24.00 6-0 OP W-L 10-27 No teams above .500 and two at .500 with one winless team
Union 21.71 5-2 OP W-L 27-18 Three teams above .500 and three at .500 with one winless team

Not that any of this matters because matchups make fights as they say. I do find it interesting though how we perceive certain teams based on history not current state. IMO the Unions and Forts of the world that schedule tougher may have a slight advantage if they can get through district play these next several weeks healthy and in good shape.

My thinking has been that a close loss to a quality opponent is more beneficial in the post season than blowouts over lesser competition. And frankly it kills the points too, as an example a loss to a quality class 3 school with 8 wins gets you 16 points while a win versus a winless class 2 school only gets you 18 points. Do you learn more from a close game where you have to dig deep or do you get more out of the experimentation while playing an inferior opponent. I am in no way casting stones as I see some value in both ways of doing things, but it does affect the points you gain. Bottom line you have to win your games because you cant control how many wins your opponent ends up with. Generally, at the end of the season if you are at a 25 plus rating you have beaten some quality teams and maybe even some teams you may not have been expected to. Either way these things are fun for a math nerd to look at and wonder, lol
