Bro I said the same thing a few years back when Gibbons played Chambers (Charlotte) in the state championship. Chambers came to VA that year and stomped Highland Springs. Chambers had KC Concepcion (will be a first rounder this upcoming year) and James Pearce (drafted by the Falcons in the first round in April). Aside from 3-4 guys, the whole Chambers team is playing D1 ball this year. Gibbons stomped them boys in the ship. Gibbons is Salem on steroids. They just play physical, disciplined and assignment football. Gannon Jones is the name to remember. He’s Gibbons QB, going to Wake. Their o-line is 6’3-6’6. I applaud the two programs playing each other. Both teams will be better after this game.
Gotta look at the schedule. If the boys ain’t playing any comp that night, most definitely going. I don’t think it’ll be close and it won’t come down to talent either bro. Grimsley staff will eat Varina’s alive that night.
Will Varina have 20+ coaches again this year? You’re so right about that staff too. We were rewatching state title game earlier and opening kickoff Varina had that unsportsmanlike/late hit and the coaches celebrated with the kid instead of cursing him out like he needed to be.
They’ll have 20+. Not all of them are bad. Johnathan Lewis and Justin Fitzgerald are two really good men that love the kids and won everywhere they’ve been but they have a lot of hang arounds and the program is structured where these kids do whatever outside of football. Varina has A LOT of challenges as a school and need good men (in it for the right reasons) to mold, guide and hold these kids accountable. I’ll get called a hater but Varina has some really great kids in the program, but I have zero faith in most of the adults who call themselves coaches on that staff.
This is why i respect Blunt so much. He has no tolerance for BS with who he allows around the kids and he has turned down and gotten rid of some good coaches for off the field stuff. The goal is to find leaders of men and not people who want to just be around for football success not serving a bigger purpose.
Reidsville has the #1 TE/PF in the nation. 5 star committed to Oregon (could see him flipping to UNC), who is actually a Danville kid. He’s a DOG bro! Kendre Harrison. I personally think he has the best shot at basketball. He’ll be a top 5 pick in whichever draft he chooses if he keeps his nose clean.
Springs game really gonna be dependent on how they deal with the trenches cause that’s what got them in big trouble last season. But skill positions, I think the springs can handle their own

Hope all is well with you Sir! Grimsley will be the best team Varina has seen since that 2017 Highland Springs team. They’re absolutely that good and Faizon Brandon (#1 QB in America) will get back every receiver from last years 3000+ yards passing season including 3 with serious P4 offers. Grimsley will more than likely be nationally ranked and their head coach has 2 state titles, 3 title appearances and won 78 of his last 82 games. Varina has the talent but you’re a Varina follower like myself. What makes you think the current staff will do differently against a national power to be in the game than they did against King George or Phoebus? Not trying to be rude, really want to know.
No sir you are not being rude you're only stating the facts Grimsley is a very good football team they execute very well and there downfield blocking it excellent.. I did not say that Varina will win or lose this game it should be a great learning experience playing a national ranked team. I've watched three of Grimsley regular season game and all of their playoff games,
I would like to see it close, with the 804 boys winning it. I’m hearing Pooka Scott is the new OC at Varina which would change my opinion on the outcome of this game. For me, Varina will have to play some ground and pound football and get the ball into their playmakers hands. They looked very good last year but reverted back to their old ways against Phoebus.
Great post. Once a direct connection could be made from high school football to Warren Buffett the rules of the game completely changed. Some of these high school football teams are small colleges in disguise. Remember what happened to Oscar Smith?
I see reidsville having a hard time with GW. GW has 3 division-1 defensive lineman and are very good on the OL as well. They have a stable of running backs, a D1 tight end and return nearly everyone on defense. Reidsville lost the majority of their lineman on both sides of the ball and some really good skill players. They were never the same team last year after Jarriel Cobb went down. Reidsville struggled to stop the run last year. They also lost johnnyius sharpe and cam Jones who were really good players. Nonetheless less they will play hard and are coached well and are always a handful. Success never graduates at reidsville but looking forward to this game. It will be a homecoming of sorts for multiple GW coaches lin Stadler (used to coach at reidsville for years), Jay Perdue (longtime Cummings OC in their heyday who had many battles with the rams), and longtime Cummings head coach steve Johnson as well.
Totally agree with you on this! Grimsley will be too much and they do not lose at home. Have the best facilities and stadium in all of NC it’s an experience. Grimsley has also gotten a few transfers from around Guilford county this year who are difference maker to an already loaded team. They are coached extremely well and Daryl brown and his staff do a great job.
