That would explain King Forks dominance along with the Epps kid being as good as he is.
Outside of Armstrong and Northside. All who made the state tournament lose huge pieces. Will be interesting to see which 3A schools from beach area reload
1-Armstrong
2-Northside
3-Charlottesville
4-Cave Spring
5-Spotswood
6-Western Albemarle
7-Central Woodstock
8-Goochland
9-Lakeland
10-LCA
Based a lot on what teams are losing to graduation
On the East side of 3A, Lakeland and Petersburg still have to play their regional championship. Those teams await either Central Woodstock or Armstrong, the former claiming the region crown
On the West side of 3A
LCA vs Cave Spring in Roanoke
Northside vs Western Albemarle in Charlottesville
Spotswood, Charlottesville, Western Albemarle,,,,, All in 3C. Throw in talented LCA team,,,well coached Broadway,,, and better than their record Heritage.
They actually changed the way seeding is done this year. It’s done like football, with power ratings. So in 3C, CHS and Western could conceivably be the # 1 and # 2 seed if they play well enough.
No more top seed from each district makes up seeds 1-3. Now the top teams regardless of district...
Could happen. 5A Stafford is better than their record indicates. Outside of that matchup (WA vs Stafford), I don’t see any of the first round games being very competitive. Semi finals and Finals should be a good ticket.
West Potomac vs Charlottesville would be a great second round matchup. Might be the two best teams in the tournament. And play a similar style. Could be high scoring
Region C is really intriguing now with the addition of Charlottesville. Could be a 4 headed monster with Charlottesville Heritage Western and Spotswood. Interesting clash of styles amongst the 4. A lot of really really good returning talent between them......depending on how Western bounces back...
I agree on the Hopewell Phoebus. Nobody in Region B can compete with them in my opinion
I like the Charlottesville pick, they return a lot of key pieces. Will be interesting to see if they put it all together next year for a deep run. Spotswood loses a lot but brings back an All region 1st...
With Radford losing the Morton kid, I would say John Marshall should be the favorite on paper.....as for them dominating 2A, I won’t go that far. The top teams 2A has produced the last few years have been super talented.
Over the last several years Ive thought 3A champions and state tournament...
