As a part time employee of LCPS, glad to see 2 teams from Loudoun County playing, good luck to both teams, but my heart is with Woodgrove, since they are the closest Loudoun school to Clarke and they let Clarke use their stadium when the weather washed out our field. Either way the County of Loudoun will progress to the next round

Woodgrove loves our neighbors to the West!

Woodgrove Nation is pulling for Clarke County in the 2A playoffs!

We scrimmage your kids in a lot of sports; it is a win-win relationship for our communities.

This Game could go off on Black Friday @ 2PM or Saturday 11/26 @ 2PM.
Woodgrove will kill Dominion. Amherst beat themselves last night with 5 turnovers and penalties. It is a shame that their last game ended that way

I remember stone bridge playing on thangiving day or Black Friday at noon awhile back but it was a packed game

Actually wikki, I respectfully disagree with you. Dominion is a solid football team that gave us the toughest game we have played this year.

They were winning @ halftime and they made us open up our playbook to beat them.

Now in that first game against Dominion we had not game planned McCants playing QB. McCants was inserted @ QB (was WR, I think?) in the first quarter and he lit Woodgrove's defense up until halftime with spectacular 100 + yard lateral and forward scrambles and last minute passes as he was scrambling behind the line of scrimmage.

Once we got in the locker room Woodgrove came up with a defensive game plan to stop McCants & we were aided by some Dominion players losing their composure and getting some stupid penalties.

This upcoming game will be another big test for Woodgrove!

I went to the Amherst and Dominion game and Dominion is a very good football team.Dominion couldn't stop Amherst offense but Amherst couldn't stop Dominion either.I don't know what Woodgrove got but Dominion QB can beat you by himself,if you don't gameplan for him.Dominion didn't impress me with their off\def line but that QB is the fastest player I've seen all year.Lets give Dominion credit they created some of those turnovers.

After back to back playoff losses at Salem the woodgove coaches used that as motivation last couple years and to secure number 1 seed to finally host Salem (if Salem wins). Wood grove plays around with dominion in first half but wins by 3 scores.

Did you go to game?
No I watched it live on the Cube. Amherst beat themselves. Their QB is really good but I stick by my original post, Woodgrove will win by at least 3 touchdowns. I believe Anherst would have also if they had not had 5 turnovers

If Salem is fortunate enough to win Friday night, they will travel to Woodgrove or play Dominion at home. If they go to Woodgrove it will be a challenge, however historically they travel well

Just wondering did you hear about the stuff on Amherst sidelines.

Woodgrove has really irritable neighbors, we can only have the PA system so loud.... :(
Neither team has impressed me not sure what's going on here. I seen Woodgrove against liberty earlier in the year and they looked better then compared to now. What's going on Potter?

Dominion pulls the upset. Leading 24-23, Dominion Blocks game winning field goal try from 42yd and returns it for TD.
Final 30-23. They go on road again next week

Congratulations to Dominion.
Good Luck next week!

Woodgrove lost to the best team they have played this year.

Unfortunately the Woodgrove team that gets a lead and keeps on scoring did not show up tonight due to a Dominion team defense that bent but would not break at the end.

Untimely penalties, a horrific turnover on the 2nd half opening kickoff; some uncharacteristic overthrows and dropped passes & a missed PAT let Dominion stick around in this game and they took advantage for the win.

For most of the game our defense managed to make McCants beat us with his arm, which he did. McCants also had some sweet runs late in the third and in the 4th Qtr to move the ball for go ahead scores.

The entire Dominion team dug deep and prevailed. Well done Titans!

Thanx for a great year Woodgrove Seniors!
We are going to miss you guys!!

Still in shock; but Thanx Bleeding Navy.

Good luck to you guys tomorrow!

I was looking forward to a trip to Williamsburg to possibly play your team.

Alas, that is why they play the game!

Wow this loss is going to sting for a while.

I honestly think this team was the best shot we had at a state title.

I can't wait for next year!

I'm sorry, Tom. Although I can't honestly say I'm sad about not having to make a seven hour round-trip next week, I was rooting for your Wolverines. You guys seem like a top-notch program, from the head coach to the fans. I know how badly you and all the Woodgrove faithful wanted to make that trip to Williamsburg, and I also know how badly it hurts to fall short of that goal; especially with a team that seems poised to make that run. Believe me, I've been there as a high school football fan several times.

Hang in there. I think Woodgrove will be right back in the mix very soon. Sometimes, it takes a few years of knocking on that door at the highest level before finally kicking that sucker down. Just keep believing!

KAATN Wolverines!

The stars did seem to be ligning up for Woodgrove this year, getting the 1 seed making everything come through them. Unfortunately for the Wolverines, Dominion didn't get the memo. I was dreading the long trip for the Salem players because I wouldn't have been able to make it myself. I'm sorry to you personally Tom, because you are a class act and a good supporter of your team, but selfishly I'm glad to be able to see 1 more home game this year. One day I hope to have the good fortune to meet you @Tom Potter.

First, it was a pleasure meeting you, Tom Potter. Woodgrove is a very good team and had a few bad breaks last night. I thought Woodgrove was the better team.

I also saw this game and, yes, McCants is very good. He accounted for 241 of Dominion's 252 yards of offense. However, the score is deceptive. Woodgrove was the better team IMO but Dominion had McCants and Woodgrove did not-it was as simple as that. McCants spent the entire night scrambling to avoid multiple Woodgrove defenders in the backfield, but was extremely elusive and would usually make one of two things happen. If he wasn't dropped for a loss, which he was many times, he was able to get 7-8 seconds to find a receiver, or else he evaded as many as 5-6 defenders and, once at the LOS, had yards of open daylight to run into.

Woodgrove also made two absolutely critical special teams mistakes. After dominating the first half and leading 14-7, they fumbled the kickoff to open the second half. Instead of just jumping on the ball with several Dominion players closing in, Kpaduwa tried to make a play and they lost the ball on the one yard line. Added to the fact that McCants was able to throw and scramble his team to a TD in less than two minutes prior to the half to pull Dominion within 14-7 at the half, Dominion was right back in the game despite being dominated for 22 of the first 24 minutes of the game. The second mistake was the XP on the third Woodgrove TD. Their kicker had been flirting with disaster on the two previous kicks, placing them just inside the left upright. The third time he missed, wide left. That totally changed the game when late in the 4th quarter Woodgrove now trailed 24-23 after a Dominion FG with less than a minute left so they had to score to win and could not rely on OT if they did not get a score. Woodgrove was extremely disciplined and managed to drive 55 yards to get within FG range (42 yard FG attempt) with 8 seconds left but the snap was on the ground and the holder could not get it down in time and they blocked the kick (guess who? McCants). The blocked kick was returned for a meaningless TD for the final score of 30-23.

Woodgrove fans were lamenting their "lack of speed" in trying to run down McCants, but I don't think they were that slow-it was McCants good speed combined with a freakish ability to elude defenders that allowed McCants to carry his team. For good measure, McCants also played in the secondary and usually covered Woodgrove's #1 target.

I cannot recall a game I have seen in years where one player carried the team so much. I am not sure Dominion can survive two more games to win D4, but it has been done before. In 2006 D6 Osbourn's Hogan carried his team almost single handedly to the D6 championship.
