Salem never plays any C5 or C6 teams at all except for Fleming and Franklin County in their district. Dinwiddie is a great program but the only C5 or C6 team they have played OOD in recent years if Maury and that was a blowout. I agree with Varina and Phoebus playing C5 and C6 teams close regularly.
Maury
North Stafford
Massaponax
Salem
GW
Highland Springs
Varina
What are we talking about??

Fleming and Franklin County are not in Salems district. Patrick Henry is d5 and Salem plays them every year and they are in the district.
Thanks for the clarification. I always get the River Ridge and Blue Ridge districts mixed up. I just know that Salem doesn't schedule any C5/C6 teams outside of their surrounding area.

I should have remembered that DInwiddie played North Staffford this year considering I work there. LOL But I don't recall Dinwiddie playing HSHS or Massaponax in recent years. What years was that? Also, Varina, GW, and Salem are Class 4. The original post was in reference to Class 5 and Class 6 schools.

So why do you think 3A is weak? Maybe its that LCA is that strong? I think that you would agree that Glenvar was one of the better teams in 2A and almost won the 2A state. Alleghany beat them badly and they lost to Turner Ashby who then lost badly to LCA. Guess we will see about LCA next year and if they don't bring in a lot of new players then I will come on here and admit that I am wrong. We will see.
My professional opinion that Class 3 is weak is because there is a lack of depth among the quality of teams. Meaning, there is only 3-4 teams that have a real chance to win the championship each year; More likely than not the Class 3 champion will be LCA, Heritage, Lafayette (prior to next year), Phoebus (before they moved to Class 4) and Hopewell a few years ago.

Also, this year's LCA team was the least athletic and talented team they have had since 2018 yet they dominated their playoff opponents. LCA's best teams since joining VHSL were between 2019-2022 yet they only advanced to 1 championship championship game (lost to Phoebus) during that time span because Class 3 was more competitive. That's my opinion from having coached high school football for 18 years and coached against LCA from 2015-2022.

Dang Kenneth:

You been saving that up haven't you my brother.
Glad you have a forum to get all of that off your chest.
I actually wish all the privates would join the VHSL
so we would only have one set of champions.
having said that I am not sure they belong in the lower classifications
let them join and get rid of transfer rules. Only a handful of teams winning State titles anyway

I ask that question of Kenneth as someone who lives 5 mins from LU. I don't know if literally a Confederate flag flying or he was referring to something else?
Let us imagine that you don't witness something that is happening or an object where it is. Does it mean that it is not there just because you didn't see it?

As an example:

On April 26, 1986 I was about 930-940 miles from Chernobyl and just starting week 2 of celebrating my 21st birthday.

How about you tell me what happened on the afternoon of April 28, 1986 at the military where I was stationed.

If you cannot I forgive you. Hopefully you will never know that sort of terror.

On my way to Lynchburg for the championship game between Varina and Phoebus, as I got close, I passed a gigantic Confederate flag flying high by the side of the road. It is unacceptable for any level of American government to allow it.

I was trolling. Don’t have anything against LCA. Actually thought it’s commendable that they took their own route and played public. Its just lame how many people persecuted Hayfield but give John Marshall and LCA a pass 🤣
Jealousy is real. This post hits the nail right on the head.

Yea I know Coach Mills and the Generals don't duck any smoke. The original post was referring to LCA scheduling bigger schools like Dinwiddie does. I wasn't considering those years for Dinwiddie since LCA wasn't in the VHSL when Springs played Dinwiddie and LCA was slightly better than average when Ponax played DInwiddie. LCA just became a state contender in 2021. I don't recall Dinwiddie playing any Class 5 or Class 6 schools OOD other than Maury and North Stafford since 2021.

@Kenneth Harris I believe you are referring to the Confederate flag on the side of I-64 West. That is in Charlottesville, not Lynchburg. Also, that flag is on private property so it's not anything that can be done about it.

I think he is confusing Lynchburg with Charlottesville. There is a gigantic Confederate flag visible from I-64 West in Charlottesville.

Ugh I worked in a nuclear facility for nearly 30 yrs fabricating nuclear fuel I'm fully familiar with that hoorific disaster at Chernobyl in 1986. No need to even go there my friend and I'm sorry for the horror you suffered. As far as the flag goes every race has assholes but I'm gonna tell you like you guys like to tell us don't condemn a whole race for the actions of a few.

They also had a pretty significant injury that may have had something to do with them not getting to the state title game in 2021. I'm sure you remember that. But I agree with your overall point.

He’s talking about the confederate flag just before you get to that first Farmville exit on 460 headed west.
