Personally, I think that private schools playing with public schools is a good thing. A lot of states actually are in that space. If your ultimate goal is to win a state championships then, yeah, maybe keep it at public schools only. If your goal is to play at the top level of competition and prepare you for the next level, let the private schools in. College teams - especially at the D1 level - are handpicked teams. A decade or so ago, Phoebus played Dematha as they wanted to play top talent. I think Hayfield played Good Counsel this year. The top public schools are actively seeking private schools for top competition. Why not make it happen more often in-state?

I don't know the addresses that individual students use but I know it's common practice for some students to use false addresses at most schools across America, even Amherst has benefited from that LOL. As I mentioned in my last post, it is not against VHSL rules for students to attend a school out of their zone. They just have to pay tuition and sit 1 year after the transfer.
This kid didn’t sit out a year

One player, no one gets as many as LCA

Very few high school kids get to play at the next level. Most do not have the physical skills. High school sports should not be only about preparing for the next level. Most play because they love the game not because it's going to get them to college. Let the kids have fun!

So let's let LCA have fun too!!

That's not what I said. I said that the only C5/C6 opponent that Dinwiddie has played is Maury. The original poster suggested that LCA schedule larger schools like Dinwiddie does. My reply was saying that Maury is the only larger school that Dinwiddie actually added to the schedule. I understand that they play C5/C6 teams in their district but they have no choice but to play them. No one is questioning Dinwiddie's strength of schedule sir LOL. You took the post completely out of context.
In that case, I apologize. But one correction. Maury is not the only larger school we scheduled. North Stafford is a C5 school.

Incidentally, we have Salem, C5 Granby, and C6 Highland Springs next season.

Yes, I forgot about North Stafford. I should have remembered that considering I work at North Stafford. Also, we are Class 6.

All schools recruit. The difference is public schools are like come play with us we will be good together. And then kids have to move. LCA has the funds of Liberty university to offer a lot more incentive including monetary incentives. Every plubic school has at least 95% of their attendees living in their school zone. LCA doesn’t even have 10% living in their school zone which is heritages. And that’s athletes or basic student population. So that in itself. But also because of liberty’s money they can. Being kids in from out of state. With easy research on Facebook and huddle you can see where every kid is from and when they came. Over 50% of their football and basketball roster lives in forest. Including their top players. Even the ones who moved in from out of state live in forest. Ware from Georgia. Frederic’s knights. Then came to forest middle then LCA. Weston Woodard form DC for 2 years. Manning from Forest after 8th. Payne from Brookville after 8th. Austin tremblay from Kentucky last year. Came to LCA a week before this season began. Joe bortels from img academy in Florida came up to play for LCA. Show me a public school in Va that has that many out of state players. This is why Liberty bought LCA in 2014. To bring in college level athletes and try to funnel them to LU even though it doesn’t always work out for them. You think LCA had the money to sue vhsl. Or pay for 14 million dollar stadium? They 100% recruit. And you will see next year when they have more lineman and 2 RBs come in from out of state. You are biased because you got a young kid that goes there and will play for them and you want them to be able to stay in vhsl. It’s up to all the schools and parents to stand up to them and refuse to play them and forfeit. Then they will have no games and no recognition.
I doubt we know each other so I don't think you can say that I am biased. If you did know me you would know that I actually taught and coached football at another Seminole district school and beat my oldest son's a** 2 out of 3 years when he was playing for LCA. You would also know that I don't care whether LCA is in VHSL or not. What benefit do I or my son gain by them being in VHSL? The lawsuit was based on travel times (and money) and scheduling. Those aren't issues anymore so it doesn't matter whether they are in VHSL or not.

Also, no one is denying that they receive a lot of transfers. What I am denying is the recruiting allegations. Liberty University is the largest employer in the Lynchburg region. Of course, a lot of people move to the area from out of state to work for LU. If you work for a Christian organization, it should be no surprise when you put your child in a Christian school. You named 6 players in 3 years that transferred to LCA after 8th grade. What about the other players that enrolled at LCA before high school? Also, it is not against VHSL policy to live outside of the school zone and play sports. The only rule related to that is that a student must pay tuition and sit out one year after transferring IF they transfer after starting 9th grade at another VHSL school and they live outside of zone.

I'm not trying to convince anyone that they should like or support LCA. I'm not even trying to defend their membership in VHSL. I'm just trying to defend the truth.

Know exactly who you are. Also know you know about recruiting seeing as there are still several Amherst administrators with copies of texts you sent to certain players to try to get them to come to your school where you were defensive coordinator if not for that you would have gotten Amherst head job. Family or not.

So it's ok to get one transfer, but not more than one? Got it. LOL
That’s not what I meant. I was responding if, I’m not even sure who the transfer was. They seem have a few have controversy every year with them and from more than their area.

Controversy arises whenever somebody doesn’t agree with the other parties actions. Nobody used to care about LCA when they were private, many in the area would downplay their state championship then as “they aren’t playing anyone and you can reclassify” but now they’re playing those same teams who said they weren’t good and have shown they can compete the narrative has changed. They cheat they shouldn’t be allowed etc, it’s ok to recognize talent goes in cycles. This is why Amherst hasn’t been relevant since 2012 roughly … Brookville since their chips, and the list goes on, in a few years there’ll be a new top team in the Seminole it just depends on where the kids live.

"It just depends on where the kids live" That is how is should be but do you really think LCA is not going to dominate because they bring players in from outside of Lynchburg. They have an advantage that no one else has or has had. Bet they bring in some real talent & win just as big next year.

Oh they do

So, who's in charge of comparing this years roster to next years roster. We need to see who all the new players are (will be).

There won’t be a new top team anymore. LCA is bringing in kids in every sport from out of state that are being recruited. And are ranked. They scout them at LU camps for lineman and skills. No public school is doing that. Within 2 years LCA will be winning every sport by 40. Unless the ADs actually team up and forfeit each contest then LCA gets no games in any sport. THey may be undefeated. But they will never set foot on a field or court. Although there is rumor of parents taking control over this now and telling the vhsl and ADs that their kid will not be participating vs LCA. In that case the teams will have to forfeit anyways.

Always was dependent on where kids reside unless it’s open enrollment and if the parents have the money and want to send their kids to LCA why is there an issue with that? You voted for who you wanted to correct, you choose what to eat what sports teams to follow etc…why can’t a parent or athlete choose to go to a school that offers a chance to cater to what they’re looking for. Every team in the district has transfers , I guarantee if you look at where some of the star players went to middle school it doesn’t align with their respective high school they graduated from.

I’m willing to bet the deed to my house they won’t have anyone who can compare to Gideon on the roster, they may win games and be successful but they won’t be as dominant in any way shape form or fashion as they have been in this back 2 back champions seasons. Reminds me of the run Amherst had where they played in 4 titles won 2 and lost 2…again just remember talent goes in cycles there hasn’t been one team that’s dominated the Seminole for the last 20-30 years it’s always a new team taking the reigns for a few years and then fading away to eventually come back.

Please inform me about these high profile kids that are being funneled to LCA by Liberty. Liberty currently has the 102 ranked recruiting class in football so all those impact players coming to little old Lynchburg must be overlooked or under ranked…some of yall really just be talking to say anything and hope somebody else agrees.

If we are speaking of other sports again let’s count titles and I haven’t seen LCA secure many since they’ve been in the public realm, I’ve seen them make some title games but surprise some teams are just better than the one they play and they (LCA) lost.

Talent goes in cycles,...I totally get that. Now IF they have some great talent on the team next year that wasnt on it this year that is where the problems will lie.

OK how about the girls team that won the state last year? Two best players had committed to Liberty U. One from Greensboro & one from San Diego. Also doesn't take a bunch of high profile kids to stack a team in high school?

But there are rules on how those transfer are supposed to happen. After you start your freshman year if you transfer in you have to move into the district to play immediately. Otherwise you have to sit out a year. Everyone not just LCA should obey the rules. If I lived in the Lynchburg area I would have sent my kids to LCA. I'm not against the school.
