Appo-glenvar

Yeah, anybody know why Genvars #5 was on sideline in street clothes ? Hurt ? Discipline ? I watched film on him and he is a great running back. Fast and shifty
The young man is a fantastic student and athlete and will be back next year. Would have liked to have seen what he could have done against Appo but just an unfortunate injury but the rest of the guys stepped up and almost pulled it off. He had 1500+ yards this season.

Thanks intrin! Glenvar did get that 21 as you predicted, who would had ever thought the raiders would hit that long pass play !
That one I didn't see coming. Have to admit. It was one of those slow motion moments that could have easily been a fumble, sack or an interception as he let it go with the defender in his face coming at a high rate of speed. Credit to the QB and the shoe string catch. That play was probably the difference and the fact we couldn't shut you guys down on third and long runs to the outside.

Good game by both teams. But from what ive seen, if Graham and Ridgeview keep playing like they do and Appo gets by Radford or Gretna i don't see them them beating Graham or Ridgeview. Graham has way more athletes and a much better D this year. And youre not catching Cam Allen in the backfield unless he doesnt see u coming. That kid has some wheels and insane acceleration. l would even say Ridgeview has more athletes just with their 2 stud running backs. Would be a closer game. Wasnt impressed at all with Appo's offense and on a good dry field youre not holding Graham under 28 points. But can their defense play consistent? Just my 2 cents wether u like it or not and im a Richlands fan. I want that Graham vs Appo game. and Please let it happen. Although ill still pull for Richlands but theyre just not good this year.

I agree with you in alot of ways and respect you for your honest opinion. I'm a big time Raider fan and have my fingers crossed. We were not supposed to get this far this year. Our young team has stepped up and have given it their all. We keep finding ways to win without an explosive team as in years past. The Raiders can dig in deep and do amazing things, so don't count us out easily.

I really enjoyed the game. I had connections with both teams. I knew a couple of the Glenvar players and one of the coaches. One of the cheerleaders was one of my daughters best friends like 12 years ago when they were little.

I grew up in Rustburg- just a few minutes from Appomattox. My uncle, my cousin, and her kids all still live in Appomattox. 2 of Salem's defensive coaches graduated from Appomattox.

I was fortunate enough to sit in the skybox out of the cold. So that made things a lot easier and more enjoyable. Good game by both teams. Congratulations to Appomattox!

Thanks Mike. BTW THIS is oldfool! Thankyou for letting me back. However I still can't log in as oldfool. When you have time to look into that I appreciate it and know I won't make you sorry for it.

I'll try and fix it I'm sorry that happened to you. I know you overreacted because of the troll it happens to the best of us.

To all the glenvar and Salem folks on here what is your perspective on the raiders lining up with Radford ? have seen gretna so know how that would be .
I watched Radford playing against Glenvar on a very wet, muddy field so my perspective is skewed. Here is my take if Radford plays Appo.

QB...Radford is better. Appo looking much better than a freshman however.
Radford has 2-3 athletes with wheels but no one with size.
Appo has 4-5 athletes with wheels and one big guy with size.
Coaching and play calling..Appo.
Moxy and confidence..Appo for sure
Offensive and Defensive Line..Radford on Defense, Appo on Offense.
Secondary...Appo passes the eye test better than Radford. Appo closes and tackles real well to limit the run after the catch or stopping run plays after the initial burst through the linebackers.
Linebackers...Even
Passing game...Appo showed they can pass, never saw Radford throw successfullydue to conditions.
Punting and FG...Radford. Kickoffs...Appo line drives them into the endzone.
Mental toughness...Appo finds a way to get it done.
Physical toughness..Radford plays like a scrappy rail yard dog and if they are in the game late, they may pull it off..
Prediction: Appo over Radford by 14. or Radford by 1.

Good read. I haven’t seen Radford yet, but pretty much spot on for the Raiders

#5 Loder Junior RB tore his ACL last week against Buckingham, early in the game there were a lot of cutbacks that just take timing that he had been hitting all year. Tough loss but great game between two class act teams..

Spot on appo ! Sounds like gretna and Radford should be a great game ! Of course pulling for gretna so appo would be playing at home but they are use to the road this time of the year .

We haven’t played anyone all year with a better kicker, so the Radford kid must be good.

Im gonna be so sad next Friday cause I won't be able to attend Round 3 whomever it may be. I'll be in Charleston, WV at wifes family for Turkey Day (Ham Day for me) giving thanks. I told her today, well atleast I can stream it, then she was like, we will be at the Christmas Coal Mines carriage rides tour thingy bob... (FACE PLANT) ... Can both teams just agree on a bye... SIGH... Your fellow Raider fan is pouting. All in all, hope both teams stay healthy and no one gets hirt and Raiders find another way to play another day. Hoping for Round 4.

Appo kicker is very good and way above average. Don't know the stats or age, but Radford looked like a D1-2 prospect to me.
Appo kicker is a senior. Very consistent with extra points and has a FG range of about 47. Maybe more but 47 is his longest this year. Not sure what looks he’s getting

One thing is for sure. I have never seen the ball get to the endzone faster with those line drive kickoffs about 15 feet off the ground. The Radford kicker reminded me of a young Nic Schmidt from Salem who played for VT a few years back albeit he's not nearly as big yet. By next year he will be kicking field goals on kickoffs which Nic did a few times if I remember correctly.

What grade is #1 in. He looks like a college player.

I think our kicker changes his kickoff trajectory week to week maybe depending on the opponent. Some games he kicks them high and lands them around the 5. Last night he put most of them in the endzone. I assume is done on purpose.

I honestly think that Street was the better fit for this game regardless. I do think Loder could have helped defensively
This game was over when Appo came out and seized momento. Just to big of the moment 4 Glenvar and I knew Appo was gonna feed. Appo did feed with truffle dogs and hellhounds all over the field. Would have been by 2 TD's if the refs didn't keep it close. Appo won its 4th ring in a row last night like I told u they would. From here on out we just gonna go thru motions
How did the refs keep it close?

So much for Ridgeview, Blue Tornados took care of them.

You are an interesting guy. I heard Appomattox fans whining about refs the whole time. Every Glenvar play the fans from Appomattox were whining about holding. It was pathetic. Appomattox won. Enjoy it and quit putting a bullseye on your team’s butts.

This is one of the best crews around. Most of them have worked college games. I'm sure they did not try to keep the game close

Oh im definitely not counting u guys out. Yalls defense is just as strong as it was the past 3 years. I was just saying what i have seen and ive seen both teams. Graham is just loaded. Nobody is catching their qb Cam Allen unless they trap him. I think he had like 400 all purpose yards today with over 300 passing. Kid is legit. Plus their defense only allowed Union 4 first downs today. But hey i was wrong about Ridgeview and our blue Tornado pulled it out today containing that 2 headed monster just enough to win so i could be wrong here too. But Graham has the whole package if they dont make mental mistakes and turn the ball over. Coaching may give Appo the advantage though. Theyve been there a lot and very recently of course

Well thats why i said if Graham keeps playing like they do. And no i didnt give Union much of a chance having seen both teams. Union was too one dimensional this year. On a good note, i was wrong about Richlands. They pulled it out today but heard it was mostly coaching. I see the same result in the Richlands vs Graham game. But hey if i keep picking against them maybe they keep winning haha. But i aint superstitious.

Yep i was definitely wrong on that one ill admit it. I thought it could be a close game but just couldn't see Richlands pulling it out. Maybe ill keep picking against them haha. But from what i heard it was mostly bad play calling by Ridgeview. Glad Richlands pulled it out. Not happening with Graham though.
