BOYS BB: (2A) Martinsville 52 (3A) Patrick County 46 - FINAL in OT

Martinsville was down 2 with 2.6 seconds left and the TJ Pettway hit a runner from just inside the 3 point line at the buzzer to send the game to ot. The Dogs hit their ft's in ot and PC went cold from the field to give Mavahi the hard fought win. PC has improved, I can see how they beat Magna Vista by 21 the other night.
I have watched Patrick Co improve the past few years. I can attest to the fact of them not being the Patrick Co of old. Heck they won in the playoffs last year. They will make noise the rest of the regular season and playoffs. I do wonder why they don't play Franklin Co?
Them and Tunstall don’t play FC. Tunstall did pick FC up in basketball and football this year. Tunstall and Patrick are better suited playing FC in baseball, volleyball, and softball.
Seems to me if they can play GW Danville and Halifax they should be able to play Franklin County.
Franklin County is no where near as scary to play as GW or Hali. FC is closer to both schools than Halifax so travel is no issue. I would assume they just don’t want to schedule a 6a team or it could be FC not wanting to play down and lose power points. My senior year at Tunstall (2012) there was a lot of gripe about GW, Halifax and FC coming to the Piedmont due to school size. I always called BS! If Not many programs like Martinsville who will play anybody, anywhere, and at any time.
That’s facts Ant! One of the things that used to kill me while I was at Tunstall was the athletes and coaches used to whine and complain about playing Martinsville, MV, Bassett...No lie, the Tunstall boys scared to play them, especially Martinsville. I guess that’s why Tunstall isn’t competitive now. Not trashing the program just stating the differences of mentality in schools throughout the district. Martinsville will play the Detroit Pistons in Anchorage Alaska, bring their fans and talk their junk LOL! Ain’t no backing down in the Dawgs. GW used to be like that but them cats don’t play for the city no more (hopeful that will change) . Closest thing to Martinsville as far as toughness and pride is Dan River.
I know, back when I was in school, Martinsville played Flint Hill and Oak Hill Academies.
