Shauntclair he was referring to the defense. Defense will be much improved and I credit this to Mr. Alex Ramsey after he embarrassed them last November. They really worked hard this offseason and these guys are HUNGRY to prove people wrong. They got revenge on Cortland this past year and they have Salem circled for the last week in November this year (confident GW and Salem will be apart of the last 4 left in 4a North). I put GW and Salem in the same category. Both had a tremendous 2015 class with Salem's seniors making the state semifinals 3 years straight and a state championship appearance and GW's senior class only loss 6 games in 3 years. Of course GW's seniors didn't have the championship pedigree Salem's seniors had but both teams had some good quality players. GW is not going to lay down just because they lost 50 touchdown production in Byrnes and Clements just like Salem won't lay down losing Fox, Isaiah, and the rest of their historic class. Somebody will step up! GW probably won't go 10-0 this regular season and yes, they have a lot of unproven players on the varsity level at important positions, but I definitely wouldn't count this team out because "you think" they're losing 50 touchdowns in Byrnes and Clements. A LOT of young talent was on the field against that very talented Salem team and that was a great learning experience. CJ Graves (fumbled in Salem territory when GW was driving down 28-21), Jamil Griffin (stripped late in the game aka Alex Ramsey's big defensive touchdown), Donald Smith and Isaiah Guzman (big time catches all year; D1 prospects), whole defensive line returns (3 D1 prospects), John Stephens (linebacker who was kicked out of the Salem game; D2/D3 prospect), and secondary (Clements gone, NC Stats commit Tim Glass returns)... Theyll be ready.
