The saddest thing I ever saw was the crowd from Manassas Park at the Giles-Manassas Park 2005 state game at JMU. Giles filled up the JMU side of the field and I remember remarking that there weren't enough fans on their side for there to be one parent for each cheerleader, band member and football player. Brunswick didn't bring a lot to Salem in 2013 either although that was a nasty weather day. Both were fantastic games decided by one point at tne end of the game. The MP qb was electric and could have scored on any play. When Giles beat Brunswick in 2013 with about 2 min left a lot of the Giles fans started to leave and some lady sitting right below the pressbox yelled to "sit your a__ down, the game isn't over yet!" How prophetic that was! I know that I didn't give us much of a chance at that point but somehow we scored on the last play to tie and then the kicker who had been automatic on xp's missed and we went to OT and then won when their kicker missed an xp after a false start on the first try which he made. Whatever the outcome, SUPPORT YOUR TEAM! Getting to the final game doesn't happen often. Giles has been fortunate enough to win in 1980, 1993, 2005 and 2013 and made it to state at least 2 other times. Played Powhatan in a mudbowl at Midlothian back in the late 90's and Goochland in 2006 and lost those.
