Region C #1 NW Liberty vs. #2 Dulles Tuscarora

This might be the most intriguing matchup in C4 this week. Can Liberty keep this winning streak alive? Will their defense keep them in the game and help them pull out another close one? Can Lawson go off?
For Liberty to be 12-0 at this point is an incredible accomplishment. Lawson is a threat and looks fast and shifty. What else are Liberty's strengths and what might they need to do to win? Tuscarora has been pretty dominant of late and would have to favored here looking at common opponent scores. For Tuscarora, I'd say the key to victory is avoid looking ahead to Broad Run and simply play like the last 7 weeks (not the first 4 where penalties hurt them).
Liberty has a "winners mentality" and always finds a way to make a play. Props to Coach Buzzo for instilling that mindset. Liberty can score in all three phases of the game. The same guys scoring on offense score on defense and the kicking game. Liberty is a very good TEAM.
Tusky looked very good last night. Liberty is a solid team all around but seemed outmatched by a faster team. Liberty hung in their in the first half, but frankly a 97-yard TD by Lawson that should have been picked but was misjudged by the Tusky DB made it 17-16. Tusky then has a TD called back and threw a pick in the end zone to end the half. Those 2 things made the score closer at the half then it felt. Tusky settled in 3rd rattling off 22 unanswered points with the combo of Gick/Duke which was unstoppable. Lawson for Liberty had a good game with something like 4 catches for 170 yards (including the 97 yarder), but outside that, the Tusky defense had its way. Fitz was dominate up front along with Gick and Halveland. At the half the GameDay broadcast said Tusky had given up 15 rushing yards, and they probably gave up around 30 the entire game. When Liberty couldn't establish a rush again Tusky's 3-man line, Tusky stuck with that the rest of the game and the extra DB helped shut down Liberty's passing game. Congrats to Liberty and coach Buzzo for a great season!
