Richlands vs Appomattox

I not see Graham this year, but saw them last year. I highly doubt if Graham has overall team speed of Appomattox.
And the set-up so you can't tell if your post "took" or not sometimes doesn't help things.
I certainly didn't see any of that stuff on Saturday, except the one kid who made mistakes and should never be held against him forever. And thug, yes that is certainly taking it too far. It seemed like to me that your coach had control of his team when they had that incredible comeback. While we may disagree on who deserved to win the game more, I certainly have respect for your team
Last year I do think the Appo / Richlands game was the real championship.
That game get played 10 times it 6 /4 Appo or 5/5 split. (Will give us the edge since we turned it over twice inside the 5 in the fist half.)
We play Clarke County last year 10 times and it was 10/0 Appo.
Should be a great atmosphere Saturday afternoon!!!

I know I walked away from SD with more respect for them, that's for certain. Great stadium, minus the limited sesting, but that's not in control of the team.
Maybe Richlands can win Saturday by more than 1 point and we can say we had the "real" championship the week before. I just said that since I have seen that used recently. Good luck to you guys and Appomattox

Appo tore Clarke up in the 4th quarter. Clarke was worn out by then. Appo was super fast.
Yeah and once we struck hard in the fourth your men kinda lost heart watching most of the fans leaving in droves. That was sad and they should have stayed to support those men.

I'm kinda disappointed as I wanted to see him play. But I do understand those wanting to stick to rules. It is a hard lesson to have to have but most times they are the best ones. With his talent, his playing days are not over as i would think he will play in college. Hopefully he will look back at this and say he grew from this.
Thats the spirit, that is the reason I came to this board last year. I got tired of hearing people talk about Appomattox only having a D and being overrated. Had to take up for my boys after being a "lurker" for 2 years.
True and FACTS! We know this is going to be a battle. Our players know it and they are not thinking its going to be a push over. That is how our players go in every game though. Coach Smith has that beat in their heads. Yep, they 29-0, but Coach tells them they are 0-0 every week. Last year he finally admitting they were 15-0 after they won states.
Okay, that is where I draw the line. You are full of it! Nobody puts the fear of God in them, but God. This team has gone through much more in 2 years than many kids go through in a lifetime. They have been through more adversity and fear than a dang football game. Many of these players lost their homes in a tornado. One of them that lost home cant even play due to injury, I think yall can guess who that is. So imagine what he has gone through in a year. They had cousins, uncle, aunt, and teammates get killed, murdered and one took his own life. Poor choice of words dude.
I say it all the time and I will say it again, again, and again. I wished we couldve played Staunton River, I heard their chatter coming out the rest room jaw jacking when they seen my Appo hat on during the Rustburg/SR playoff game. Not only that, they was talking crap to our QB and OLineman when they came through ticket booth saying they better be glad we didnt play em this year.
Yep and I agree, it is good yall arent a running team, because I know that Richlands going to bring it and they are going to test us in that area.
Arent most high school football teams challenged in this area?
And...Without Howie, arent yall shorter at WR? We have DBs that qualify for states in the high jump. Yalls #5 and #3 are the same height if not shorter than the ones that are going to cover them. Horn is 6'2", okay....I have confidence in our coaches to make the adjustment they need to make.
Graves can jump out the gym in basketball so it wouldnt surprise me to see a jumpball intercepted. It will be a great matchup. 2 of the best in 2A squaring off.
Not going to take nothing from him. Our Safety blew coverage 2x due to his attention on either the run or doubling Howie/Ball. I cant remember who was on that side he had his eyes fixated on. Collins is a great player and I remember him well. Dont know Booker other than he is a reliable WR that is fast and yall got him from Graham.

I have asked our guys many times about this board and they will say "I dont pay attention to that." But if this is what you need to fire your guys up, go right ahead. I have only really seen one game that talk on media fired them up in 2 years and that was Amherst this year. They were posting on our FB wall and then going under newpaper articles and TV game footage calling us out. All of them eating humble pie right now. Our guys dont get shaken by some message board talk. Actually, I help admin the pages like I have said before. Richlands and Amherst fans are the only ones that come on there posting disrespectful stuff the 4 years I have been doing it. There were 3 great and respectful post from Richlands fans in past 2 days though.

I applaud you Ryan, because you were one of the fans that came on here and praised and congratulated us. Many was crying they got cheated as some still do today. Some even promised they would be playing the next week because they had "friends in high places at VHSL" and going to have them overturn the game results. SMH, so i know you will do the right thing, just like I will.
They might have a few plays but then they started playing aggressive, believe me, they were blitzing hard on the QB, he had to roll out pocket a few times. Especially the one to buster in post for 50 yards. 8 was in Page's face all night long.
Oh okay, yall did dampen our O like never seen all season, but dont say you shut us down. Page had 205 according to media (on Appomattox stat sheet it says 230) yards passing and rushing Phillip Fleshman 9-105, Matt Page 18-44, Tre Walker 6-40
Let me add that up, that is 400+ yards passing and rushing (i didnt put all rushing yards), quite sure we didnt do that in last 8 minutes.
I think this was cleared up as well. I can remember plenty of times we went across 50. I can think of 2 right now. The 2x Howie hawked down Matt Page and Phillip Fleshman, both times we were beyond the 50. Hope somebody else on team has that kind of speed this year, because them two runs were TDs minus Howie. He is a phenomenal athlete.

Now, we did have a INT and a fumble inside the 5, so dont make it look like we didnt have production on O in 1st half.
Im not going to predict score, but I will say this, I got confidence in my Raiders. I think the one with last score wins and I dont think it will be a blow out. Whoever wins, it will be within 7 points with both teams over 20.
As far as the appeal goes of Howie, Im glad to see them come out with a answer sooner than later. That helps our out coaches in practice and players knowing their assignments.

Sorry to hear that he cannot play ! Being a former high school official and having to remove players from the game are not fun ! It's just the rules of the game and I really do hope that he can go forward from this , iam sure they will be ready to play without him . Still will be a great game on Saturday !!

You haven't posted anything disrespectful, but plenty of people have been. The only part of that that had something you said was that no running team will beat y'all. I agree on that part.
I don't care how many times I get roasted. Appomattox won the state title against Richlands. I'll say it until the day I die. That's just my opinion, and it's no better or worse than anyone else's.
When I said shut out, I didn't say shut down. There's a difference. I knew Appo had yards, but Blankenship fumbled to give Appo the first points, and they didn't score again until the last few minutes. Shut out, now shut down.
It will be a fun game. Glad to be a part of it.
As much as I'd like to see Richlands win, Appo is the best HS team in this division that I've seen since Powell Valley with Thomas Jones. To beat them you gotta stop them on offense and spread them out on defense and beat that speed. In football, speed kills. Just ask the SEC tackles trying to block Tim Williams!
A great article on the Hogs (O Line) of Appomattox! 4 are seniors and they basically been starting since 10th grade.
Only thing I would have added is one of our OLineman from past 2 years got switched to TE and been performing great in replacement of Marquise Morgan (U of C). He is a Junior.

Look at the offensive stats for the Eagles and what they were coming into the game. The defense of Appo was smothering them and Appo was clearly in control of the game. The score was close but there was no doubt who was winning on the field.
It all starts up front! Appomattox was fun to watch. Even though they took it to my boy's, It was a good experience seeing how good your team is. Good luck on Saturday!

Richlands only has one senior on the offensive line, and plays several underclassmen on defense. It bodes well for next year, as the experience they're gaining from playing against the best competition is immeasurable.

If you have time, you HAVE to go to Ooh's and Ahh's on U Anvenue. It's not too far from the Verizon Center and the food is unbelievable! It's been featured on several Food Network shows. I like to think I know good food and I say it's definitely worth it! Here's a link to their menu/website.

Possibly more bad news for Richlands receivers? Just read on the BHC website that Scottie Ball was taken to the hospital Monday for a possible gallbladder issue. Also, #23 Taylor Horn, who is supposed to fill in for Howie, may have broken a finger on the last drive. First and foremost, i hope Scottie is ok. I had to have a diseased gallbladder removed. Before it was removed it was some of the worst pain ive ever experienced. Hope it was nothing serious.

My prayers for this young man. Hopefully it's only gall stones and the problem will resolve itself in a few days with rest.

They're a little banged up. But I'm sure Appomattox has some boys who are sore as well. Should know more later this week, but I'd be surprised if a kid voluntarily sat himself for the biggest game of his life.
I'm very happy to say I can agree with you 100 percent. I only hope this young man will be ok. This is about the health and well being of a young man and has nothing to do with football except the terrible timing.
I would agree, teams that go deep into the playoffs are all going to be banged up.
I hope everyone plays. I'm not thrilled with the reports I've heard.
You have to play a half of a season to reach the championship game, so YEP, every team is a little banged up. We have a few injuries too.
Sad to hear that about Ball and the Horn. Its bad enough Howie isnt playing. Gonna be hard to recover if yall lose all them receivers in one week. SMH, I hope they heal up and Ball's issue isnt bad enough that he cant play.
I wouldn't imagine Graham would be in the same arena with Appo in overall speed, heck they may not even be in the parking lot of that arena. Appo's speed is a different animal all together. You can't replicate or simulate that speed, at least not at the 2A level.
Appomattox speed is more than just the skill player's. That is what sets the team apart from others. Don't get me wrong, the skill player's are special but the overall team speed is really good. Good luck to both teams on Saturday!
