Rustburg looks improved with only a close loss to undefeated 2a Appomattox , Will this be a close defensive game or will the Bees sting at stinger stadium ?

Appomattox hung +45 on Heritage. I think people are writing off Rustburg being that their loss came to a 2A. Rustburg 34-28

I am not writing them off... I think they are a solid team... but the matchup here is bad for the Red Devils. All their points are against very very bad defenses... They were able to get the Jones kid in rhythm, and dictate the pace of the games they have played thus far. Brookville most likely will set the pace very early with their defense. They are not your typical shut down defense.... they play a very aggressive defense... I am thinking that Rustburg will turn the ball over a minimum of 2 times in the 1st half... If the Bees score off either one, its game over... If the Red Devils give up no points off turnovers, they have a chance...

Tough pick. Bees look like they'll win without issue but Rustburg has offensive talent. They'll test the Bee's defense and that's a good thing. They need this type of test. I still expect Brookville to win with an exclamation point but they damn well better be prepared or Rustburg can do damage. They want this one badly and are going to bring it quickly. Close at the half but the Bees shut down Rustburg in the 2nd and roll to a big win.

I also think turnovers will decide this game. But I don't think Brookville has faced a team with multiple weapons on offense like Rustburg. It's about 8 or 9 players getting the rock for them. & #4 can go up and get the ball... Also very dangerous in space; offense & special teams.

They've scrimmage Magna Vista, Salem, Us and beat 3-1 Albemarle and 3-1 Western Albemarle. Suffice to say they have seen whatever Rustburg has in store. Not trying to knock the Red Devils. They appear to have their best team in years which is great for that community. If the Bees don't beat themselves and take care of the ball, I've got Bees 21-7. Weather/field conditions will make this a closer, ground and pound type game. Neither pass attack is going to be it's usual self. Bville has got the best WR/DB combination in 3A. It's about 5-6 guys that rotate on both sides and they all have the same build with great ball skills. Their is a reason why they've only given up points in 2 out of 20 quarters this year. 20 in the first quarter against Western before they shut them out for 3 quarters and 7 in the 4th against Harrisonburg with the game already in hand. That 3-5 stack Meeks runs is very tough, disguises things well. They aren't huge but they are physical, fly to the football and most importantly they are ball hawks, force turnovers every game. I'm a Liberty grad so no bias at all. Bville may very well win 3A state title IMO. Rustburg looks like the clear cut #3 team behind JF and Bville. 7-3 is very real possibility. Shout out to Baker for the job he's done. Rustburg has been average or worse since they hoisted the D3 crown at JMU in 2000. Glad to see them back making noise.
