I know it's 4A ball, but this has to be shared on any board in my opinion, so I'm posting it. Warhill LB Noah Holmes had 8 QB sacks and 6 tackles for loss against Heritage (N. News). That's 14 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and not to mention the other gazillion just beyond the line of scrimmage. Holmes has small FBS offers and is likely ODU bound. I have no clue what VT and UVA are waiting on. Kids a baller.

I saw his junior film last spring. Kid has a nose for the ball and is well coached by Wheeler and his staff. Has a great burst as well. There aren't many better to learn how to play linebacker from than Thad Wheeler.

Isn't it incredible what a coach can do to a program? I mean an elite level coach. Unfortunately, another Wheeler has returned to the Bay Rivers and for some folks in central or Swva who may not know, this is the son of Paul Wheeler who won titles at Lafayette and Rustburg. Warhill has themselves a non-normal, not your average coach. They have a guy who like his father, can simply outsmart the guy across the sidelines from him, and he can take yours and beat his, and he can take his and beat yours. Look for Warhill to regularly enter the 4A field as a regular late playoff team for years to come. Watch and see. Give him 1-2 more years and watch what happens. They may be a threat to beat Lafayette and Poquoson this very year. I don't think they beats the Rams this year, but Poquoson and Warhill will be a toss up game. As long as Wheeler is there, look for Warhill and Lafayette to become a true-bigtime rivalry.

I liked his father, but I admit, I was hoping he wouldn't be as good. The thrashing they put on Heritage wasn't supposed to happen this past weekend. It's already started for Thad. The culture is already rapidly shifting.

Several years back, I was cruising the sidelines for VAPREPS and another now defunct HS Sports Blog....Paul Wheeler was the funniest, most animated coach that I had ever witnessed. It didn't matter if the Rams were up by 40 or down by 10, he coached with the same intensity. He rode referees (not in a demeaning manner either), he stayed in kids crawls and his assistant coaches. He COACHED every minute of every game that I ever witnessed. He scolded kids...reminded me of the way my grandfather would get on me and my brothers growing up...he spent 38 years in the military. Coach Wheeler was a class act. I think Coach Linn picked up a lot of his habits along the way. Of course, I would be selling myself short if I didn't mention Coach Duty...helluva a coach and genuine great guy also.

The only thing I like better than a QB sack is a Pick 6. I would have loved to have seen that game.
