Unless they allow Salem to play 15 guys on defense, I don't see any obstacles to GW putting 30+ points on the board. Salem's offense may or may not keep up. Depends on Salem QB being able to complete passes, so GW can't stack the box to stop the run.

You have focused on the “facts” of your clock issue and I would argue that there were some discrepancies in the area of penalties but I only mentioned one of the most egregious.

However we do agree it was a game played by two really good teams and that’s about all we will agree on.

And going back to answer your specific question how I would feel? I have had that happen in states with my son and as pissed as I was, I told him not to ever leave it to an official or the kid tapping. So I didn’t blame the human error and before you go on a tangent about it being 6 times or whatever. If your coaches thought it was that bad they would have addressed it with the white hat then. Very specific he was told why they were adding time when he walked across the field on that last drive but maybe they didn’t tell all the fans.

Well said! All too often these conversations involve rumors, misconceptions and unverified beliefs. I too prefer that private and public schools not be in the same league, but I prefer more for the truth be told; regardless of who it benefits.

A fight. The refs called the game with about 2 minutes left. Players ejected. WSET showed a little of it and people have been posting on here about it. It has been stated that Orange started it, so not sure.

I am sure that you want me to drop it or ignore it so it can go away, but that is not going to happen. Stuarts Draft has lost before, will lose again, and will win again. All those will happen against Riverheads as well.

This goes beyond the results of a football game. WAY beyond. If the score had been reversed with 2 minutes left, you wouldn't have heard a peep out of me, and if you had it would have been congratulations. The Riverheads team played a great game, and showed why they are regarded as one of the best programs in the state, no matter the size. And the coaches also did a great job adjusting from the 1st game.

The only thing I will say about social media is that for the most part it hasn't improved society in general, as I am sure you would agree, judging by a post before the game Friday.

I will answer one part of your message directly though. Saying it happens/doesn't happen other places. I have admitted that it could ABSOLUTELY happen anywhere (yes even SD), I am not pointing it out because of 1 PLAY though. If you can't see that it happening 6 times on ONE POSSESSION is cause for concern, then it doesn't matter if I showed you every piece of evidence available, you would talk around it. Again, SIX TIMES. If you are ok with that, then make sure if it happens at Strasburg this week or in the future don't say a word.

But back to subject at hand, and maybe putting it in your arena may help you understand a bit more. IIRC you are a wrestling coach. So exactly how would you feel if this happened to one of your players (I dunno what else you would call them). You are at a big tournament, heck say regionals for argument sake, and with all the different mats they use tappers. At the end of 1st period, there is a takedown and the tapper is 5 seconds late which results in extra back points. 2nd period, tapper is 3 seconds late and there is a reversal. End of 3rd period tapper is 4 seconds late and there is an escape. The 3rd period ends with match tied 12-12. Overtime comes and there is no scoring, until the referee adds 7 seconds and then the opposing wrestler scores. So the other wrestler got a bunch of points directly because of those errors, and now your wrestler is eliminated from moving to states.

Exactly how would you feel?

What makes Phoebus special is their ability to put numbers in the box to stop the run, great corners who can play 1v1 on the outside, and pass rushers who pin their ears back dead on destroying a QB. Just tough to break the Phantoms down for more than 1-2 scores. Varina is similar, but have some holes. Huguenot is a bit young, but I really like their team. They may be just young and naive enough not to let the mystic bother them.

Phoebus tends to do very well against pass dominant teams

The JF kid was clearly trying to keep the Orange player at arm's length as he turned his back to him and walked away before being dragged back in and pulled to the ground. They really need to do right by that kid. Anybody that was in that stadium would tell you that the JF player was not in the wrong.

All that does is put the VHSL(the organization) in the middle of a tug of war between its member schools and LCA and where does the funding for the lawyers come from. People just fail to ignore the practical realities of the situation and make baseless allegations as to what is actually happening. If they have a complaint and proof they should make it with specificity. If not, they should quit whining and adapt.

I think a games between Phoebus and Varina would a low scoring one with both teams probably only scoring through some sort big play, not too many sustainable drives. How Huguenot matches up with Phoebus is really interesting considering the depth Huguenot got on offensive

I respect it and agree that Phoebus looked better than Varina against HS. I think a huge part is HS is playing their best ball right now. That’s why we line up.

Phoesbus defense was far more dominant against HSHS, the springs actually didn’t have too many troubles moving the ball on Varina, they just shot themselves in the foot a lot. I think Phoebus front 7 is better than Varina and I’ve seen the springs play against both teams live. Also, it was 28-19 Varina against HSHS
