Twas the night before playoffs..

It really did.. looking back when my son started football in 4th grade to now graduating this year. With all the ups, the downs, the wins and the learning he has experienced, it has all flown by. You always think there is more time till it runs out on us. Make the most of it, take the time, make the opportunities, and never say - maybe later.

I don’t agree with how they did everything and really consider that back and forth online bs very rec league coach like. But hey they have reason to talk so until somebody shuts them up then so be it. They trained these players from kids to young adults…for lack of better wording they “made” this team. I just don’t like how people seem to want to make it bigger than players following their coach…literally all it is. DO has one of the most successful youth organizations in the state so no clue why it would be a surprise his players want to play for him at the Hs level no matter what it takes.

Btw Bo whatever Hs in Richmond that gets the talent from the Glen Lea youth teams is going to be a force in the state within next 3-4 years. I’m sure the majority of them will stay together at next level…and i see zero problem with it.
Yeah I agree with 95% of your points but, the “having reasons to talk” led to a lot of unhappy people who were out to get them and they left a paper trail. I live by the stay down til you come up motto. They have a successful youth league organization, they’ve won 3 state championships (was going to get #4 this year), they were going to build a state/national public school in the talent rich DMV area, and they run a good program minus the off the field antics. They were reckless.

Glen Lea is 90% Varina and Highland Springs. You’ll have a very small percentage of kids going to Trinity, Benedictine, or other county schools. A good majority of the 90% goes to Springs but the V gets a good chunk too.

State Runs through Altavista

Plaguing Essex? They have one loss so I wouldnt quite say they are plaguing. Stop making excuses and let things play themselves out. Essex has had 2 close games and won 1 and loss the other. I think their close encounter with Westmoreland was more of Westmoreland living up to their potential. Now the L they took to Rapp I'm sure everyone was surprised by that. Rappahannock may have just figured out a formula to success and that's not knocking Essex but more so giving the staff over their some credit.

Sussex and Galax have been the most disappointing teams in 1A Football. I certainly expected more from them.

I'm looking forward to these playoffs and the fact that we will get to crown a new State Champion this year because we all know that the 'Big Red Machine' will be back in 1A next year. So lets enjoy this while we can!!!!
Just curious... how is Sussex one of the most disappointing teams in 1A? They finished 5-5 and are the 4th seed in Region 1B after losing two 1,000 yard running backs, the whole offensive line, and they only returned 3 defensive starters. I may be bias because I talk to a few of the coaches down there but I think they did an excellent job with alot of first year starters. If I heard one of the coaches correctly at homecoming...their entire backfield(QB and both RBs are 10th graders). For those that have studied the game should agree that a first year QB who only played 2 or 3 games at QB on JV...will have their hiccups. So going 5-5 isn't the greatest, especially by our standards in Sussex but I wouldn't call it disappointing...in my humble opinion

Bro we both understand the code. If we’re both out doing something illegal and we know it’s hot, we’re not going to bring more attention to ourselves. Check their twitter pages and look at the back and forth with opposing teams, fan bases, and critics. Those coaches were poking the bear. @Bucktown434 made the point that these were black coaches and you, me, and most black folk know that there are a lot of people that didn’t want to see those guys be successful. They were too high key.

Just curious how were they supposed to stay lowkey? So many people hated on DO at Freedom and when he took his players he brought up since youth league with him to a new school it was only a matter of time people would complain.

Sidenote i saw PME at the state championships last weekend and wow they got some talent coming up. DO might have to go coach private school to avoid this happening again

Question for Clarke County..,

I'm not a Clarke person but I think I can answer this question. But please someone correct me if I am wrong..............I am pretty sure that the routine of buying tickets online in advance is not required until you get to the state level. So in these regional playoffs, everybody should be accepting cash at the gate.

But as I said, that is just my understanding, so if I am wrong, someone tell us before there is a misunderstanding.

STICK A FORK IN THEM

I doubt this goes anywhere. In the off chance it does, it certainly wouldn’t need to delay anything except Class 6 playoffs. Also, one would think it would only impact 6C for the time being. That region would be playing a game every 4-5 days to catchup in time for the semis.
well we’ve been warned that if this goes thru then only Hayfield’s region may be playing next weekend. And it’ll be redoing the first round

Great write up. Most larger localities hire residency compliance officials within their school system to investigate any student in question. We know there’s some sketchy stuff going on with Hayfield but if FCPS has “investigated” and found no issues, then there’s technically nothing the VHSL can really do. It’s not like they can leave Charlottesville and post up at a student athlete’s house in question way in Alexandria. IMO, had Hayfield’s coaches just stayed lowkey, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.
